Your recommendations for Canon are great, they put me at ease. I guess a big part of that was that the lens actions feel nicer on the ones supplied with the Nikon, but if they hold up fine, I wont sweat it.

And, I actually did this for you earlier today. Mainly because I was bored. Sadly, it was out of focus for most of it, BUT! at the end you do see the focus on the wood nice and clear. T2i without the magic lantern SD card, Audio Technica Pro/24CM hotshoe mounted mic, and the kit 18-55mm IS II lens. Church is 1/2 mile away. If you don't see it, It's still uploading.

            That looks sweet.

So as far as lenses, you guys are saying that the canon will have more/cheaper choices than the Nikon d5100?

Have a T2i and actually looking for another here soon. Great camera, user friendly, good images I can't say anything bad about it really. Well other than the fact that my Ex-Wife is keeping ours and I need to buy another.

The Canon 550d T2i is pretty cheap nowadays. Even with just the kit lens, photos look REALLY good and it's got all the features you could want. Even takes really nice video too. I loved my T2i.
