Out of State speeding ticket

What do you mean? lol. I'm fine with paying the ticket, I'm asking if there's a way I can simply get a defective equipment ticket, which wouldn't be points. I don't know how to handle tickets out of state especially when I don't have to appear in court and I can't talk to a prosecutor to get a lesser charge.

You can choose to attend the court date and try to ask for a reduction but I bet that would be a fruitless endeavor. If your car wasn't functioning properly, the reasonable thing to do is not use it until you know what's up. good luck arguing that you deserve a break because your infraction happened while your car wasn't working correctly. Also, I'd think they are less likely to care about what some out-of-stater is asking of them by mail.

You might want to call your ins. company at some point and ask about taking a defensive driving course to reduce the points. The officer should have mentioned something about that when he issued the ticket/ you should have asked.

Your options kind sir are:

1. Pay the fine, you can call them up and do payments if it's a bigger amount

2. Don't pay the fine. Feel like a boss until you start getting letters from them and ultimately feel the long, hard raw cock of the law when they throw you in jail, at which point you may opt to break out using the blueprints you tatooed on your body. If you have a brother in prison, you might want to do something really bad like kick an officer in the balls and then pee on his face so you can get transferred there and break him out too.

on the serious, even if it is out of state, your insurance will get wind of it. Mine always did. I'm not sure about the points on your license

Depends if Vermont has reciprocity with NJ. Around '99-'00 I was living in CT and got bagged on the Mass Pike for doing 106 in a 65 in my e23 745i (I knew I was booking, but honestly didn't know I was going over a buck). How it wasn't written up as wreckless driving I'll never know.

Anyway, the ticket was $365 or something which I didn't mind paying; I just didn't want my insurance going up or points on my licence. Called up the CT DMV and asked if a speeding ticket in Mass would show up on my CT license. The chick was really helpful; explained that if I just paid the ticket, CT wouldn't find out about it, no points on my license. If I fought the ticket and lost, they would find out and I'd get points. If I just ignored the ticket, they'd find out, and I'd get points, and my license wouldn't be valid in MA.

So I just took my medicine, paid the ticket, and that was the end of it. I'd call the DMV or a traffic attorney and ask about reciprocity (information sharing) with VT. And for any CT people reading this, my incident happened twelve years ago; so if you run into something similar, better check to be sure. Wouldn't surprise me if they're swapping info now, especially this day and age with terrorism paranoia and everything else.

but honestly, I'd just like to know the process of fighting the ticket/lessening the charge through mail. I'm not going to court, so I wouldn't be able to see a prosecutor and talk it out with him in hopes of getting a lesser charge.

Yep, so when the state that he got his ticket in contacts his current state that he has his license in and they tell them he has not payed it. They will suspend his licence till he pays it.
