Wasn't like that at all. There wasn't a Subway in our area for about 35 miles, No German drives 35 miles for anything, let alone a sub sandwitch. There was a huge thing in the news a year or so ago about how Subway is robbing the franchises over here, and making it impossible for the owners to make real money.
Not saying it isn't possible to make alot of money, just didn't seem like the right thing to do HERE.
My uncle was a franchise owner of a Jake's pizza in Chicago in the mid 80's. He made really good money, but come the early 90's Domino's and little Ceasars pizza kicked his ass into the dirt. All depends on location and timing is what I think of it.Leave a comment:

My business partner now wants to open a Jersey Mikes, pretty low start up cost. I think it's about 18k for start up.Leave a comment:

Good point.
Apparently Subway is doing really well in Canada.
Burger King delivers?!?! WTF?!?!
This worries me a little because I already live off of an average income without any of the risk or investment. My wife's friend owns 6 Subways. She started working there in high school and through college, then bought the store from the owner with some help from family, then slowly built up to owning 5 more stores. She and her husband bust there asses running everything and live on average incomes. I think the stories of becoming a millionaire in a couple years is pretty rare and mostly due to luck. those that have a knack for business and invest wisely and have a little luck and help on their side can do well, but they make up a small minority. Be prepared for very hard work, long hours, little money and a 70% chance of failure.Leave a comment:

This is true.
20k buys you in, they ship all equipment and food. All you do is manage the property and run it.
The waiting list can be jumped. You just need to know the right people ;)
Subway is doing terrible and the entire franchise may go under.
Burger kings sales have improved over 10% since they started delivering.
McDonald's thrives in urban areas but there's a waiting list too.
I'll keep an eye on this thread. Very interested!Leave a comment:
