I worked for Infiniti when the 1st gen G35 Sedan hit the market. It was insanity, then the coupe hit.

Lots of fit and finish issues with the first models, if a sedan, stay away from what we called the "garagedoor" models, they were the ones with the trunk that had the retarded looking inlay where the logo and trunk button resided. In the coupes, the weight over the 350z was enough to notice, but were noticeably quieter road noise wise. Lots of tire compound issues also related to the noise issue, as listed above.

Personally, I would get a same production timeframe 1st gen M45 over a G sedan.

I thought they looked ok when they first came out but now they look ugly as fuck, they did not age well at all.

Could be the tires, the first few 350Zs I drove were terrible. Find a low mileage stock one on new OEM Bridgestone RE050.....dramatic difference.
Could have been. It was an early model. I think it had some good tires though. It wasn't my car so I only checked to make sure they wouldn't come appart at limiter.

My dad used to have a G35, now owns a G37 S. The G35 was a decent car but kind of a pig, I absolutely abhor the G37. Its almost impossible to drive it smoothly, there are more blind spots than there are Windows, and the interior is pretty much falling apart.

I have an 04 g35 and a g37. They are nice cars, I like the g37 a lot more than the g35. The vq motors are notorious for burning oil and our g35 does. The timimg chains are lifetime but I had the guides slide down the rail where they should sit on the g35. To redo the timing chain on these cars is an 11hour job at a shop and most people that have issues end up just swapping to a different motor because the job cost around 1800. They are a pain in the ass to work on and it is tight in the bay.
