    You guys want to buy mine? I really don't want to sell because its a really well done cafe/scrambler. Its a 1994 former police K75, but never put into service. More hours and parts than you can imagine.

    For K100s and K75s:

    If its over 50,000 miles, YOU MUST ask about is shaft spline lube.

    Anything under that 50,000 mile mark the bike is pretty much fine; just ask about normal wear items: tires, brakes, fluids etc.

    Interesting read here, I am also looking at K75 bikes ATM. I need something to ride in the city to work, as there is no parking where I work, and public transit sucks. I'm 6'1 230lbs so I'm not scared of the weight, just don't know if I will be able to avoid modding it to hell...


    This would be my first moto. However I ride a bicycle in the city often, and had a dirt bike when i was a kid growing up in the country.

    I'm always in favor of getting a disposable Jap bike for a beginner. If your heart is set on a K75, then by all means get it. They are excellent bikes with a reputation for comfort, reliability, and great versatility. Yes, they are a bit soggy in the suspension for my taste (nothing a Wilbers makeover can't correct) and the old-tech fuel injection system can lag in response, but they are just a great bike. The K75 tends to have far more pleasing vibes than the K100 does.

    Full disclosure: I've always wanted a blue K75S.

    I never thought cafe racers were even hipster, I think they are the best looking bike honestly, but its not really what I'm going for. Or maybe I just make fun of them because you like them, lol. A Jap bike would definitely be the smart route, but with the addition of your new bike that makes us tied with BMW's and that keeps me up at night....

    They both also asked about beginner bikes so I answered.

    I've seen these Suzukis 500s or 550s for cheap and I have heard pretty much only good things. The Japs make good stuff even if it is cheap, and its always been a totally different style than the Germans' stuff.

    (edited / added) --> To clarify a bit more: I think the Suzuki 550 is a great alternative to the Honda CB550 since the CB550 prices have now gone into the $1,500 - $2,000 plus range. Sure they may not be the same / as reliable as the infamous Honda, but their prices are significantly lower which is good to get you going at least.

    I merely suggested it would make a good cafe if he wanted since that's popular now. Shit you might even make some money off a hipster douchebag after making it into a cafe racer! Either way its a great starter bike that won't break the bank if you break it, unlike a K or R series BMW.

    Hipster or not, at least its not slammed and in the end: to each their own.

    Pb34 has a gay hard on for hipster cafe racers, thats why he wants me to get one. I'm really at the point where I've decided to go with the K75. Just got to stop buying e30 crap so I can afford one.
