I guess they just didn't clarify it well enough, they made it sound like hardly any games at all would work with it.

I'm still not buying one until the price and the hype drops. Besides, I never buy game consoles at launch, there's ALWAYS shit wrong with them. I wait until the 2nd or 3rd gen release, when they've fixed all the bugs.

Josh, the PS3 IS backwards compatible, but what the radio may have gotten wrong and went off from was the fact that there are many many games that will not work from PS1 or PS2 in a PS3. I assume those are the blue or black discs. PS2 was mostly backwards compatible, and the best for that was the bigger one. Some of my friends had the large ps2 and it would play anything from PS1, then got the slim version and it had problems with the colored bottom discs. I assume that is what the deal is, if its not one of the regular silver ones (don't ask me what the diff is, I have not a clue) it may not work, but it WILL read the old games. Just some wont. Its the same case like I said with the PS2, so fuck the PS2 too? :P

I'm not going to have a PS3 and a PS2 hooked up to my TV just so I can play crappy launch titles on the new one (at $70 a pop), and still play GT4 and the few other games I'm in the middle of on the PS2, fuck that.

Dude, FUCK the PS3. I just heard on the radio today that the PS3 is NOT backward compatible with PS2 and PSone games, making all of your PS2 games obsolete. Sony's website has a list of a few games that will work, but on most, the graphics and/or sound will not work properly. There's no way in HELL I'm spending $500 on a game system that will only allow me to play the crappy launch games. I'll stick with my PS2, and now I've decided to get an Xbox 360, possibly a Wii. Maybe in a few years when the price of the PS3 goes down and GT5 comes out I'll get one, but in the meantime, fuck that.

If I had a couple G's I would have preordered several from different locations and made sure that the preorders would be filled (EB Games apparently is having problems with that), then would have listed them as one auction (a requirement :P) on eBay. People are going to make an absolute killing. Obviously. Again even if I hadnt preodered its almost seems woth it to camp like that to flip it for several K.
