it's probably better that you don't, because if you go into a trip with a bad attitude towards it, then you will have some of the worst most terrifying moments of your life. Since you obviously have no knowledge on the matter and have an obvious predjudice towards things not in your norm, then you should just keep the dorrs to your mind nailed shut.

I can honestly say that I have had the best and worst moments of my life on trips, and I wouldn't trade eigther one for anything.

And as for the messed up people you know that have done this, well, you would be very suprised at the amount of professional/brilliant people that have tripped.
