What the hell is up with PNWers?

I'd rather watch a Seahawks exhibition game then attend the derby.

The derby is pretty much like Madi Gras. Hardly the pomp and circumstance you see on tv. I haven't made it down there, but I have friends who say the party is better than the 500.

tornadoes and hurricanes every few weeks? The last tornado we had locally was in 1985. And if a hurricane hits me here, I think we are likely in the midst of the apocolypse.

Tennessee is not too shabby. Like Kentucky, its got its good and its bad areas.

As far as sports teams - the only two "superstars" playing in Seattle recently are from my backyard. Jr. grew up in Cincy - just across the River from me, and was in some of the summer baseball leagues I played in. Shawn Alexander grew up about 10 minutes from my house on the "good" side of the Ohio River.

Hey, If I'm wrong on the timing of tornados, I apologize. I swear every time I watch national weather something's coming through "tornado alley" - but I'm not even clear where its' boundaries are, or anything. So call me on that & elaborate - I like learning what the geography is for all that stuff is.

As far as sports, we seem to be the Yankees' idea of a minor league, but aside from baseball we just have never put together a real team in any sport that could reliably make it to the post season. Hate to admit it, but true.

However, we have a couple great stadiums - it's just a bummer we can't back our architecture with reliable talent.

I always think of A-Rod as a Yankee - I'll give you that.

You've never been to the Derby or done it up properly then. They dont sell out mediocre hotels for $500 a night 25 miles away from a Seahawks exhibition game.

I'm with you, Kruzen.

One volcano 25 years ago that killed what....def less than 50 people, vs. tornados, hurricanes, and all that crap every few weeks during the season every year.

Real estate wise, I'd hate to be anywhere but here once the sub-prime bubble bursts, and a boatload of houses open up.

PNW (Seattle & greater) is one of the strongest markets in the U.S. - plus the cleanest water, really decent air quality, and variety of sports you can get killer terrain (Mt. Baker), etc.

It's a package deal, but I cringe at the idea of permanently relocating any place but maybe far NE. I'm not overly fond of living in the South, but Kentucky, N. Carolina, and Virginia don't seem as bad as the 'dirty South'. Maybe Tennesee, but IDK - they might get the twisters too.

I like the South, I love a lot of the things it offers - but I love coming home from a trip and getting off a plane at Seatac. I'm just plain home.

Now we just need a real basketball team, a better baseball team, and a football team that can stand the test of time.

PNW teams FTL. Seriously. All our decent years have been flukes, we know it too.
