Ahh yeah, I hear ya.

The main reason I like OSX is simply because of the OS flexibility you get.

Its the only platform where you can seamlessly run every OS with ease. If you run normal hardware you'll have to go with OSx86 if you want osx and its still pretty buggy for alot of complex things, however if you're running apple hardware you can run OSX + bootcamp to have two native installs of those operating systems, and for anything further (*nix distro's, and whatever the hell else you want), you can go with vmware fusion or another software solution to run them.

Its just a very flexible platform.

That said, my home system is windows XP pro sp2, at work I run ubuntu and use VMware server to run server 2003, three xp sp2 boxes for work related stuff, and a w2k box all of the one system.

Just not a big windows fan all in all though, but I loves me some osx and linux

I had no trouble selling my old PC, to a Mac guy no less. I didnt have to take a huge hit either even though it was a year old.

And then there is, of course, the whole upgradability factor. One of the things that makes it hard to sell a PC when it has an old chipset or PATA setup is that people can build a newer, faster PC for cheap. Its not like you can go out and build a new Apple notebook or Mini. If you want a 12" mac that isnt a POS you HAVE to buy a powerbook, there are no options. And people who buy macs usually dont shop value for money when it comes to hardware.

So if you Mac "people" decide your computer blows how do you go about upgrading the hardware? What do you do for games? Go online and do some flash gaming?

I'll enjoy my pc until macs can do something to impress me.

If I ever feel the need to upgrade my computer I will just sell it. The thing about Apple products, especially the notebooks, is that they have considerable resale value. People consistantly buy 2 and 3 year old macs on ebay. Have you ever tried to sell a PC that was more than 6 months old? Most of the time you can't give PC's away.

My Macbook pro is running OSX and Windows XP with boot camp. Parallels is even better as it allows you to run both simultaneously without shutting down.

I have a 2.33 ghz Core2 duo processor, 2 gigs of ram and a 256mb ATI graphics card. My Macbook will play any computer game just fine.

That is one of the primary reasons I got another PC instead of the macbook, there are just too many programs out there for Windows that arent available for OSX.

That and the macbook is built poorly and isnt small enough, if I am getting a notebook it should be small and light. My current is just over 3lbs depending on the battery in it.

I don't generally hold onto a computer for more than a couple of years. So, I've never had a computer "blow" on me (except for my old HP laptop).

What do you do for games? Go online and do some flash gaming?

I don't play computer games, so this isn't an issue for me either. If I'm ever in the mood for electronic gaming, that's what Playstations and stuff are for. Not my laptop.

Although I use an Apple, I really do wish I could say I used Windows. Microsoft is local to me and has done a lot of great shit for our local economy. Not to mention all the charitable stuff they have done including donating computers to every school I have attended since elementary school.

The truth is, Apple is just better right now. OSX is a better operating system than Windows, hands down. If Microsoft would just simplify Windows and make it less memory hogging I would switch back.

I completely agree. The Gates foundation is wonderful for the entire state of Washinigton. I was just in class learning about the amount of education grants they've given. And like you, my schools had computers donated by Gates.
