I'm suprised no one has mentioned verizon's data network. It's slow as shit. If you've got a phone and are trying to browse the web alot and shit liek that, then Sprint is the network for oyu. They're leaps and bounds ahead of verizon and at&t.

My girlfriend's family has Verizon and they all like it and have never had problems. She has an LG VX8600 and used BitPim to do anything to it.

Check out www.howardforums.com. It's a GIANT cell phone forum that will tell you pretty much everything you need to know about how to do stuff toy uor phone.

I gave Verizon the finger after they screwed me. I bought a new phone & plan from them (after being with them since Day One) and the phone croaked on me after giving me trouble for two weeks. I talked to a rep who offered to send me an upgraded Motorola phone for free, and I was actually satisfied with the deal.

Two weeks later, no phone. When I called, they refused to send the phone they promised me, and after an hour of bitching, they agreed to send me a "better" phone. When it showed up, it was a POS LG flip phone.

When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the phone, they basically told me to jam it up my ass.

I ran up a $785 bill, then sent the phone back to them and told them I wasn't paying. That was three years ago. They came after me for a while, but finally gave up.

    Fuck 'em.

    Another point for AT&T. Thanks.

My 2 best friends both have this phone on Verizon.
I helped them transfer some Mp3's over in full 192kb bitrate.
They work fine as ringtone mp3's? You just have to run the software that Verizon provides, called VZW Mix or something.

my 9800 and 9900 ...both said on the site i went to that i could work....and both didnt work....and you know what i mean....you voice record into the phone....and it saves it in "my sounds" perhaps its an LG thing that it wont work for some reason?

And I have no ring tones and I don't want to pay for them. I tried using Myxer and another site to send them, and I sent them like 5 hours ago and haven't got them yet. But I can still receive pics from other phones and I can send pics to my email. Anyone else having this problem?

wont work man....verizon sets up there phones so it wont work...like if you had an old verizon phone say an old Lg where you can make your own ringtones ...like sounds you record on your phone with the MIC you could do it, but newer phones wont let you set MIC sounds with new phones....and thats how those ring tone sites work...they send the sound the the MIC recorded sounds...which you me or any new verizon customer doesnt have.....:( sigh awesome service but crappy phones and plans....only good thing that verizon has coming is the new Voyager!!!! very nice phone...it will sure as hell give the I-phone a run for its money!

If the phone was free, fine charge me for features, but being nickled and dimed every time I want add a ringtone or a background is crazy. Sprint is similar, but not nearly as bad, and they usually leave the default OS (albeit modified) alone.

i would say the first thing i would do is get the micro sd card..then all you need is a reader, and it will be pretty good. is your phones usb hookup usb 2.0, because i know my lg vx8600's is only 1.0, but if you have the card or the cable then bitpim will work just fine...been using it with my phone for about 7 months now...and it is great

The biggest complaint I have with verizon is their phones will not let me sync it to my navigation device to get the traffic reports and local weather according to where I am. It does allow me to sync with it for a handsfree bluetooth device but will not let me do text messaging through the navigation device as well. Which the navigation device is capable of doing and even would read incoming text messages if verizon would not have locked out this features.

I still say in my area that verizon service area is far superior than any other provider in my area, which is the biggest reason I stay with them as I travel all the time in areas where other providers wish they had service available.

And do what the others above me have said. I just paid for the ring tones as it was easy and not that expensive. I only get one ringtone every two months or so..
