Oh I have stories that would blow your mind. I used to take psychology and sociology classes and everytime I told a story that related to the topic at hand, the whole class was like intensely concentrated in listening INCLUDING the teachers. Im lucky to be here.

The appeal? Its a combination of ignorant youth decisions, idolizing the wrong people, wanting the easy route (or what you THINK is the easy route), group solidarity, money comes into it after a while, and you get conditioned to want to be the baddest mutherfucker, cuz that is what is expected, and thats what you have come to believe in your small world. Its fun for a while, but then you grow older and the stakes get a LOT higher. Its not little kid shit anymore, by then you have a drug habit or two, more than likely have kids, have legal problems looming over you and youve dug youself into a large hole that IF you try hard to get out, will take years to put your life back in shape. Like me, if you leave that life. You life is on pause after high school and Im starting at 26 what I should have started at 18. My brother is farther along in life in terms of success and getting his shit straight than me and he's 5 years younger. But whatever, some people NEVER GET IT. I had thee presence of mind to see that it was all bullshit. Taking me absolutely nowhere fast.

I'm sure you realize that that stuff happened to you because of the people who you associated with. But I don't know, it may have been totally different. In this case though, this girl is 20 years old at a under 21 club just trying to dance and have a good time. She and two other people were shot because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I see your point and agree with you all the way. Its a law of percentages. Its logical that the more you are around it, the more chance you have of going out like that. Took me a long time to realize that and not have that idiot excuse of "If its my time, its my time anyways". Bulllshit, there are actions one takes that can help "your time" come around sooner than it would. Im sorry about what happened to your friend.

hmm. first time i had a gun pulled on me i was 12. i ran like hell. second time was when i was 15, and i got jacked for anything that was of value. i collect called my Dad to come pick me up b.c they stole my wallet w/ my bus card and money, he said walk home. i dont know who i was more angry @, my dad or those punks who jacked me.

when i was younger, if some1 got jacked/stabbed/shot, we went after them like a bunch of idiots. now im 26, and early this year my friend got stabbed @ a bar, and my reaction was talking to him for 3 hours in the hospital tryn to tell him its karma, and that there is no good in revenge. after spending a week in the hospital, he decided he didnt wanna ever be back there again.

Yes, this is the first friend I've had that was shot, unless it was suicide. I'm not a sheltered little kid or anything, but I grew up in a town of 50,000 and gang violence was non existent. But, that town was also like 5 minutes from Tacoma which is a whole different story.

I've had a gun pointed at me before too. My friend was selling just an ounce of bud and these two guys tried to jack him. I was in the back seat, and had it in my face momentarily, but it was on my friend the whole time. I wasn't thinking he would shoot though, so i hit his hand and yelled at my friend to get the fuck out of there.

Geez. I saw her on the news this morning. I'm glad your friend is ok. Clubs are a fucking joke. They're like magnets to idiots I swear. Just after the interviewed your friend they listed off the most dangerous cities in the US, Tacoma was 33. Yippie.

Where was L.A.? This year there has been a resurgence in gang violence not seen since its peak in the early to mis 90's. Theyre scrambling to figure out a way to stop it. Too bad they didnt care to stop it before it leaked into the middle class neighborhoods.

damn.. I've only had that happened to me in dreams. Not joking or anything. What was the first experience like?

Youre brain and thinking (at least mine) said not to panic and not beg for your life, if theyre gonna kill you it doesnt matter what you say, and I said to myself "this is it, man" and I thought of all the good times I had in life, and the few regrets Ive had. Now when youre getting shot AT you dont think any of these things, you just look for cover. I used to run with a very nefarious crowd and burned my candle at both ends. To put it bluntly, I literally, with no joking here or exaggeration, wasnt expecting to get to 30 yrs old. I just turned 27 so Im almost there. Plus I dropped the idiot "friends" for the most part and dont do drugs anymore.
