Yeah, I think they at least recognize the differences in typical career flight hours between us and dudes flying heavies or civilian only (i.e. ours are a lot less typically). I'm fortunate to have the reserve gig that I can take full time orders with and get my normal mil paycheck and stay "current", so that will hopefully bridge the gap at least for a while while applying/interviewing. QX or Skywest would be high on my list if that ended up being a route I needed to take. Like you said, I've been working on both app systems. Have heard the advice you give about taking practice interviews from a few people.....might have to look into that, and at the end of the day, might even end up with a job offer. Thanks for the offer, I will def hit you up when the time comes!

still though....they generally like to see a hot minute of 121 time. you might consider a regional for a few months if you get to your separation date but haven't gotten to third base(with the super model)

i haven't been through that end of the process in quite a few years, but it seems like there are two application programs out there. the one american and southwest use, and AirApps for just about everyone else. i would suggest selecting every 121 on airapps. getting some interview experience at a company you would never want to work for is a great way to take the pressure off.

i help do pilot interviews occasionally(about once every other month), so i can offer some insight when the time comes. you are welcome to shoot me a pm.

Congrats man! Sounds like a much better situation. What sort of work does your firm do?

I know we have a couple of bus pilots in here, any comments on the ongoing fume issues from an insider's perspective? This most recent incident was a serious one, and also nothing too shocking if you have been following the reports for a while. If you do a search on that site, for "fume" you find that a significant majority of fume results involve the A320/31X series of aircraft. To an observer, reading the aviation (both GA and commercial) accident and incident reports on a daily basis for years now, it seems there is a problem with these aircraft that is significant enough that there must be an ongoing investigation. Is it just being kept quiet because of the climate around aviation news following the 737 MAX crashes. What say the pilots?

One of the things I remember from my Navy training is the importance of a full-face oxygen mask. Something about the cyanide produced during electrical fires will kill you through your eyeballs...

according to Airbus, the theory is that apu's are being shut down improperly. oil isn't draining back into the reservoir. maintenance subsequently assumes it is low and adds a quart or two. once the apu is ran, some of the extra oil burns off in the combustion chamber, and fumes end up in the cabin. the fix, we are told is to wait two minutes after the pilot shuts off the apu before deselecting the power. this allows the unit to go through its complete shutdown sequence. personally, ive never had an incident, but there is a fume event checklist on the back page of the aircraft's quick reference handbook. it seems the new guidance has reduced this problem significantly.

I have smelled burned synthetic turbine oil before and it is truly awful.

A couple shots from this past weekend. The DC-3 is a rare DST (Douglas Sleeper Transport) version.

The T28 is from Oshkosh. If you look at the top center, I think I caught some Lightning Sprites, unless they are odd lens ghosts. There are 4 very faint streaks going upward, but in different directions.
