And not one mention of Ice Cube? Listening to "Laugh Now, Cry Later" right now.
I still say if it weren't for Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins, none of this shit would have gone down ever.Leave a comment:

You are a madman!OK, so since we are breaking out with the love for the old school hip-hop/rap, the saddest case I know of is the D.O.C., Dre's first protégé.
Ruined his vocal chords in a car wreck.
Anyone who has "No One Can Do It Better" knows what I am saying.
The man knew how the flow worked.
Keep'em coming they're seriously ill.
OMG Luke, I have to bring my hip-hop knowledge out, how about some good ol [Too Short=life is too short], for bass and cuz words this is with no doubt the baddest album to cruise to., There is also Channel Live, The artifacts, Jedi Mindtrics, Redman, the Alkoholicks, Black Moon and I can keep diggin in my crates of 80's and 90's if you want more names
Speaking of Diggin in the Crates (DITC), Big L is someone I seriously think does not get the credit he deserves. Just listen to "Danger Zone" or "Ebonics" hell just listen to the albums Flamboyant and Lifestylez ov da Poor and Dangerous.
This man was murderous!Leave a comment:

so we know what was good, but what can I listen to now that is respectable. I dont read the source anymore, and dont have the tiem or energy to try and stay up to date as to who is hot this second, so i got interesed in other stuff. Lately I am really into Americana/Texas music, I know a total 180 from what we were talking about, but any one ever heard of James McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards?Leave a comment:

maybe change it to the lost hip-hop thread. Love Rakim, Tribe, anyone here remember the Smokin Grooves Tour? Gaddamn that was some fun. you want some good names to look up, just a few off the dome would be Craig Mack(flava in ya ear), Eight Ball and MJG (Memphis rap), Gangstarr, and as mentioned the whole Hyroglyphics crew. That is just a bit of what comes to my mind when I think of the old hip hop I used to love. Del's "Right side of the brain", album I bought the day I purchased my iX in Portland back in 2000, so I always like to drive and listen to that. BTW, Outkast was hip hop and then went pop.Leave a comment:
