*shrug* I'm consulting for companies doing business in India... but yeah, you know better than I.
I was going to say, London Interbank has been around for a year or two.

Also, India will have some issues now that they cost the same as an American flunkie and their work is being outsourced to the Pacific Rim. China will have some fun with RAPID inflation because of their deflated currency once they start importing more.

First, a lot of cars that aren't the big three are now made in the US. I don't have the time or care to find the numbers, but BMW for example finds it cheaper to produce here than in Europe. That's a change as we're used to outsourcing to cheaper economies. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/10/business/bmw.php

Um, Indians over the phone probably can't replace a lot of the very technical service jobs we offer... we're the top in professional business services exports I believe.

Plus, not all production jobs can go abroad when quality matters or needs highly technical supervision: Like artificial joints in Warsaw, IN or Bobcat machines. It'd be more expensive to deal with the drama of exporting these things than just doing it here.

And we have a crap-ton of farm land and a good $ of our exports are ag, with demand increasing from China (because of Walmart) for animal feed so they can eat more meat.
BMW, MB, Kia/Hyundai, Toyota all figured out they can build cars in US and save money on i9mporting models from overseas.

That especially makes sense of germans, since Euro is high. They are building cars at half labor cost. Hyundai uses thousands of robots to eliminate human error. And Toyota is just a freak of nature, I had internship with them, and I still don't understand how they employ people who don't shit but inspire others.

Highly trained tech reps? Seeing how indians are learning English, give it a decade, their sub-continent will be fluent in which-ever dialect you want. They can already spell better than us.

Yes we are still growing some vegies, but along with agriculture, chineese are also buying all our metals they can put their hands on. That's right, they are not digging there, they are buying scraps from us, depleting our resources.

They are taking those jobs away, because we are willing to give them away. We are shopping at Walmart, and the option to buy American products versus what walmart offers, are getting slimmer and slimmer.

A decade ago chineese tools were shit. Today they forge and micropolish their tools, and craftsman to compete with China became shit. Give people time and tools and they will learn to build planes (we sold them wing designs), and all the medical expertise as well.

Since most US jobs do not produce any sort of product, we have no leverage against countries that make everything for us. We can't expect to trade services for product, especially when Indians learning broken english and how to answer telephones.

    yeah, elections.

I am a democrat, not all the way, but mostly there.

This year I planned to vote democrat, and after watching primaries, I am voting republican again. The option we get are just really weird. Who the hell voted in the primaries to make it so? My vote for Biden did nothing.

Get out and vote! It is all we can do. We can talk about it until we're blue in the face, but if we don't vote we shouldn't gripe and complain. I am registered to vote. Are you?

Problem is with American people. We sued and unionized the hell out of our employers, so they're afraid to give jobs. Why would I pay Ford employee $80 per hour, when Toyota pays $53. So now Chevy builds cars in Mexico and Canada and pays only $19/$47. Simple math.
    Quote worthy statement.

You can thank them for everything from the high prices of gasoline to the high cost of food, the water you bring into your home, the heating bill, etc.

Does this mean we shouldn't use alternate engergies and prattice sustainable living? no. but case in point... locally on the OR coast they finally caught onto the concept of wave farms (something that has been in use in Scotland or Ireland I believe for some time). They wanted to put one in out here that would power X number of communities on the coast without hurting the environment (no waste, completely clean - or nearly completely, and is completely sustainable). So what happens? Some environmentalist whacko decided to go about the process of doing everything legally possible to block the usage of wave farms citing that it would look bad, could kill fish, not a viable option, and generally impacts the environment. WTF!? These same people are opposing natural gas lines, wind farms, hydro power, etc... all of which helps get the US population off of oil for things other than cars.

It worries me that we have the capability to do these things, and then the lack of application of these technologies will only further cripple the country. If you think that big oil is out to hurt the country, think again. Find your local environmentalist tree sitter, and thank them for killing the US economy and damaging global financial markets.
    +1............This is spot on!!

The funny thing about it is it was intended for people to go out and spend. But instead, due to the current state of the economy, almost every person I've talked to paid either their rent or bills with it. Including myself.

Has anyone seen the huge "America" branding on their packaging as of recent? I'll snap a shot next time I'm at the store. It's rather ironic.
