We got stopped by one in New Mexico on the way back to Toronto from California.

Stopped us, asked out citizenship, we answered. Looked glanced inside the truck for stuff in plain view then let us on our way.

If it's in plain view, you got nothing. They're not ripping apart vehicles like they do at the border.

WOW you roll over an comply guys really dont get it and make me wonder. While yes I would prolly be nice a comply, if I had to deal wiht it on a near daily basis then no I would be looking for ways to harass them as they are harassing US nationals on US soil. Would you consent to a search of you car wit out a warrant simply because you have nothing to hide??? or how about your home????? or speak to an officer about a crime you are a suspect in with out a lawyer?????? All on the basis of having nothing to hide???? Got news for you dont. These road check points are very close to the edge of illegal search. What next a national bar code system that you will be tossed into jail if you dont have it on your person in at all times.

If you're a woman, why should you expect to be allowed to vote when other women meekly stay in the kitchen where they belong to leave the voting to the menfolk?

If you're of the wrong gender, why do you think you should be allowed to marry the person you love?

If you're not breaking the law, why would you insist on standing up and rocking the boat, when it's so much easier to simply take the cowardly way out and meekly answer the question? Are you, or are you not, a US citizen?

Just answer, "Yes I'm proud to be an American citizen", and then we'll stop harassing you and let you go on your way. It's as easy as that.

But if you insist on getting all uppity and standing up for your Constitutional rights, then we'll drag you out of your car, kick your sorry ass, and show you what it really means to be an American citizen.

Can't you morons see how wrong it is to meekly roll over and allow others to trample over your rights?

Only stupid sheep believe, "if you're not breaking the laws then you don't have anything to worry about."

Courageous people stand up and fight for their rights.

So, not answering the question "Are you a United States Citizen?" at a legal roadblock to prove a point is on the same level as Rosa Parks? He's being unfairly discriminated against? Someone tell me how this roadblock in any way, shape, or form resembles Jim Crow laws and Nazi Germany. Wouldn't the fact a white guy is still questioned mean effort was being taken to ensure no one was profiled?

If there was a legitimate constitutional concern then I would agree with you. However, this is a little bit stupid. actually, it's very stupid. How many in this thread on both sides of the issue have read the constitution? There is so much more going on in the world that ignorant children like the guy in the video have no idea about.

You might not agree with this, but the courts would uphold the existence of roadblocks as being necessary to secure our borders. Also, did you ever think that perhaps this road is known to be used by illegal traffickers? 40 miles is not really that far from the border. He is not questioned in a quest for evidence, nor is he accused of any wrongdoing. It's not any different than a police officer asking if you've been drinking when he pulls you over.

Also, he is not initially being detained. the agent is trying to determine if he is a United States citizen. When he refuses to comply, he is then outside the law and is detained until his citizenship can be established. Technically, he could be arrested for obstruction of Justice, so I think he got off easily. One of the Reserve instructor pilots here in Corpus is a Border Patrol helicopter pilot in Laredo, TX who takes fire while flying in support of the Border Patrol. What point is this guy trying to prove again?

And, before you complain about something being unconstitutional, read the constitution. If you're gonna argue something, at least know what you're arguing about.
Also, let's go to the source. Read this before continuing in this thread. It's funny to me how many people complain about something's constitutionality without having ever read the constitution.

what if someone said "yes, i am a citizen"? How would they confirm the person is not lying? personally, i don't like the fact that i even have to carry around a fucking license or ID, what will they ask for? your birth certificate? your Papers?

all new cars should be activated by your license, fuck having a car key. the possibilities would be much more positive than randomly intruding on people's daily activities to "just check" when there is no probable cause for it... besides the national crisis due to the stresses we burden for all the illegals and identity theft & fraud.

people exactly like you ARE what is wrong with this country and the reason for its so many flaws.

An officer OF THE LAW is NOT the "Law"

people like you should be sterilized.

there is obstruction of justice, but self-incrimination is prohibited by the 5th you worthless inbred
oh boy, another idiot removing any doubt just how ignorant he is

    get a clue

self incrimination, taking the 5th is AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN ARRESTED, as is the right to remain silent and have an attorney present during questioning.

how about studying the constitution before you go off and make yourself look stupid again, eh?

as far as stopping them at the borders, what, do you think they come over on the highways? just how many border patrols would it take to patrol the open border? you'd probably come up with some other wacko ACLU leftist shit like the drivel you wrote above.

again, and imagine i'm saying this slowly for just you, you do not have any right to not answer questions by the law enforcement officers without being arrested, capiche? no answer, get arrested. why is this so hard?

now if you decide to play asswipe as the the guy did and bust the border patrol's chops, you're going to get arrested for not cooperating with the law. you can remain silent all the fucking way to jail, where you can call your attorney or have one appointed by the courts. yes, you can remain silent and suffer the consequences.

as i said before, please, oh please, try this the next time you're pulled for speeding or a broken light. tell the officer you don't have to say anything because it's your "right". you'd better be wearing kevlar underwear for the overnite in the local jail. then you'll have lot's of rights.

just how many cousins in tennessee do you have again?
