Just had someone from Venmo technical support call and ask if I authorized a charge of $900 to Mexico. I immediately knew this was BS so I kept him on the phone until I could verify any charges on my account. After I checked my Venmo history, I asked him for the next step and he said he'll text me an authorization code, that means he had my password. He probably attempted to log in which prompted a text from Venmo and asked me to read him the authorized code. I was at a computer and quickly changed my password and then asked him how he got it. He then proceeded to formally hang up on me, haha.
