Also, FYI, gun control was not a political issue in 1776. Everyone had guns. The U.S. won the Revolutionary War because Britain was fighting 3 or 4 wars at the same time (and the French came to help the Americans).

    What no spelling errors?

And it still is not a political issue, except on the left.
FYI America won the revolutionary war because we kicked Britain's ass. You can America hate all you like and dumb down the victory it's what you lefties love to do.

I didn't bother, since you probably think that proper spelling and grammar are tools manufactured by Big Government to "make America communists".

About the Revolutionary War: hoping and believing that something is true does not magically make it happen. It's amusing that you claim that I am "dumbing down the victory" by citing facts.

I see what you did there, you clicked the youtube link. Thank god, I didn't get kicked out the community college he went to; plus I never voted for Giffords.

                Says the spelling Nazi....lol.

And there's where you miss it yet again. Facts or not, your dumbing it down shows where you stand in your America hating. Keep rocking the left wing propaganda!

While political rhetoric and the availability of guns almost certainly played a part in this incident, when compared to the significance of our methods of dealing with mental health those issues become insignificant.

This person was clearly mentally ill. Having had a very close family member degenerate into bipolar disorder, the similarities that I see when reading this guy's musings are chilling. This is not the first time either. It seems as though every time something like this happens I see the same telltale signs of mental illness.

On a positive note, that family member who at one point was unrecognizable to us is now (after being forcibly institutionalized and medicated) living on his own and working a full time job which he likes a lot. It's been a complete 180 degree change since he has become aware of his illness and is taking medication.

The moral of the story: we need a better system of identifying and getting help to those who are struggling with mental illness before it is too late. I don't know what that system is, but it probably starts with educating people about mental illness and destigmatizing those who have it.

Perhaps not the major grievance, but the first shots fired in the Revolutionary War were to prevent the British from confiscating weapons.

This is part of the problem. Both sides want extremes. If we can agree to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the insane and adjust the laws accordingly then we can get somewhere. But unfortunately it seems to pretty much be all or nothing.
Gun shows seem to be the worst offenders. Yet I'm all for guns and responsible ownership.

isn't it amazing the left wing press and demcrat talking heads cannot, after almost 10yrs since 911, find any connection between radical islam and terrorism?

but can find an instant connection between the right and the shooter?

even if the shooter is a left wing nutball?

As displayed by Queen of Alaska herself. The congresswoman was on the list of politicians that Palin suggested to put on the crosshair... How much clearer does it need to be?
