Bloomberg Strikes Again: NYC Bans Food Donations To The Homeless

Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels -- fresh nutritious bagels -- to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from the mayor's food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.

Liberals strike again with common sense policies.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

heard on the radio that more than a few states are forming bills to ban or outlaw the banning of food donations to charities

I hear what they're saying about public safety but look at how much fucking food is wasted because its not "pretty". They're homeless anyway so what's the real loss with giving them anything?

As fun as that is to say its only the surface. We live not in a nanny state but in a plutocratic one in which there is only legislation that improves the situation for one group of paying customers.

                      Bloomberg's off his rocker.

BTW this is in no way part of "liberalism". Remember we want the gov't to take care of people cradle to grave and give them lots of handouts and make them dependent on the system ;)

Bloomberg, for those of you with a short memory, used to be a Republican before switching to 'independent'

You mean just like how the Communists did...for the people and all. It always ends that way on the left. And history has shown it time and time again.

i'd say denying food to homeless shelters sounds pretty conservative to me.

"let those fuckers starve! they arent working hard enough!"

                          lol.

i bet dozy is on point. there has to be a company that supplies food to shelters and is looking to increase their profits by turning away free food.

                            ^

We conservatives donate to charitable organizations at a much much higher rate than liberals. We are not talking about keeping the food from the those who need it, we are all for that ( I do it when ever I can for that matter) . Its seems that one of the most progressive mayors in the country has an issue with this. NO US Conservatives

No, it's about those people being dependent on gov't for their food, not charitable members of the community.
