California to debut landmark cap-and-trade system

California just keeps killing itself. I'm interested to see where this goes.

So won't this just chase companies out of California?

      Depends on who you ask.

When government puts air quality/taxes/rodents/birds/frogs/dirt/aluminum in bullets over jobs. You get businesses failing/moving. There's a balance and government doesn't know what that balance is.

With its millions and millions of people living there, business are just going to die??? No their going to just continue to pass it on to the consumers. That's the balance!

California will just continue to be California.

Or they'll just start importing stuff from China and officials'll celebrate how their wonderful little plan worked.
          Aka carbon outsourcing.

It's bad because trying to comply with stricter environmental laws at the expense of employment is wrong as global warming isn't real, that it?

It is retarded because you're just transfering the supposed problem elsewhere. But with the carbon outsource, logically the employment is outsourced too, unless you did both cap/trade and substantially raised customs on Chinese products.
I wrote about this happening in the EU and someone said the EU will over-regulate itself and this won't happen in the states.

Well, here's what going to follow (probably next 4 years under Oh'Bummer):
                  - Cap/trade fraudulantly proclaimed as highly effective in CA
                  - Rest of America jaw drop, other states wanting the same
                  - More emissions outsourced, more unemployed as direct effect
                  - China continues to give no shits about emissions

Not end of world, likewise everyone's happy in fantasy land because they're "doing the right thing to save the planet".

note: there has been no empirical proof that CO2 has caused the planet to warm. plenty of models, no proof.

but i digress, USA CO2 emissions are back to levels 20 years ago due to natural gas usage. seems like the free market works in the end.
no need for cap and trade, which is nothing more than al gorebasm conning you lefties to increase his fraudulently obtained wealth, mostly on the backs of the poor

Note, you are an idiot and completely wrong on all accounts of everything you just said, ever said, or will say. There is plenty of proof. This isn't the 1970's or 80's anymore, where your skepticism could have been warranted.
                        Congrats to California.

                            To quote your own article:
The EIA said that in addition to low natural gas prices, a mild winter and reduced demand for gasoline also contributed to the first-quarter emissions drop.
Now why do you suppose we had such a mild winter, in fact the warmest winter ever recorded???
edit: You do realize that was measuring only the first quarter of the year right, when we had the warmest winter on record?? This is what all deniers do, cherrypick the numbers to depict what they want. You would've learned that had you watched the PBS documentary.
