I love the fact that people think Trump is successful at running businesses. He's successful at selling a brand, most of his businesses outside of a few golf courses end up failing. He's like a private equity firm, he purchases an asset and sucks it dry, declares bankruptcy and moves on, leaving thousands of people in debt, out of a job, or out of luck.

There's a reason that most of the places that have Trump's name on them aren't actually owned by Trump, because when they were they failed and he left town. Most people just see the name and assume he still owns the place. I guess that's the ignorant public for you.

That's part of what I was alluding to. But in some circles... that's considered being a good businessman. Always losing other people's money and not your own. I don't think so, but all some see as the ultimate judgement factor is the amount of wealth accumulated to demonstrate success.

It is what it is... morality has no place in big business (unfortunately). Hasn't really ever I don't think. That's why antitrust laws are supposed to exist.

Selling a brand, like, exactly fits the definition of a "business."

What you guys should really be pissed about is the incorporation/bankruptcy laws that allow him to do it. He learned the rules of the game and and uses them the best way he can to increase his pocketbook.

Or as the kids say, "Don't hate tha playa, hate tha game."

And that's what many say. I tend to judge a person on their character AND success. But people define each in their own way so it is what it is.

I'm definitely not saying it's the "right, just, or moral" thing to do.

Which is why I mentioned that he actually is good at selling a brand, which is only one of the many businesses that he has had.

Maybe it hits closer to home for me when people talk about him being good at creating jobs and good at business because I live in NJ, where his casinos have failed, there have been bankruptcies and the loss of employment for thousands of people. Who paid for that? NJ taxpayers.

So you can look at one sector of his business life, the Trump Brand and say look, success! or you can look at the totality of what he has done, which has been to take taxpayer money, stuff his pockets, fuck over the little guy, declare bankruptcy and move on. That I call failure in ever sense of the word. But hey, if you think that these types of things are "successes" that will allow Trump to build a better tomorrow, I'll see you in bankruptcy court when Trump leaves the White House with his pockets stuffed with cash and everyone else holding the bag.

Now they had to create a safe space for this little snow flake to be able to spew talking points with out getting asked even moderately tough questions, and have the answers broadcast to the rest of us. I mean her endorsement is highly coveted by the progressive left this go around, shouldn't we all get to hear what shes got to say?

I don't see that as a huge issue especially when trump was literally kicking people out of his rallies and press meetings when he was campaigning. As stated in the article she has had plenty of open and 1 on 1 time with the press this seems like just a poorly labeled more private meeting.

I don't know if you can blame the Trump hotels for Atlantic City turning into a cesspool.

Didn't most of them start a significant downturn as indian gambling became more and more available?

I'll admit to being less than educated on the exact factors as to Atlantic City's meteoric drop from relevance.

Agreed. After a previous campaign that was so hostile to the press simply excluding them from some town halls doesn't seem like a problem. I mean she's not calling the press an enemy of the state... Besides, someone is going to turn their cell phone camera on and she makes any serious gaffs it will be all over youtube, facebook, instagram, etc. anyway. No press needed.

I don't see the story here.

Because she is not right-wing and also not an established Democrat so both parties want her gone.

They certainly picked a bad picture:

                          She got some teef.

As for AC, there are plenty of factors that contributed to the decline of the casinos, however, somehow there are some that have continued to do business there despite the rise of gambling in other states beside Nevada. My gripe with Trump is that he came in, took so many tax incentives, promised many jobs, and then filed for bankruptcy. His casinos were failed propositions from the beginning. Either way, it highlights my point that he's only good at Branding and selling the Trump Brand, I don't know if he can build any other businesses outside of that (maybe luxury golf resorts...).

^Many companies do similar things, but we like them, so they aren't vilified. This is a good read. It doesn't mention how long this one particular section of power line is, but $172 million for it seems insane.

I generally hate all private equity firms for doing nearly the same thing, pulling as much money out and then high-tailing it out of town.

Yeah, but they have pretty much always done that.

The specific article I linked talks about how companies like Amazon push off their infrastructure costs and energy costs to the local population because "jobs."

The problem is data centers don't create a whole lot of jobs for the price they cost the general public.
