^^I mentioned what belt to buy and referenced another thread with concrete info on page 2. No string required!

Interesting. I only asked because when I 'plugged' my rack I had problems with pressure building up. I either needed to vent them or connect the two ports so that everything felt right.

for the belt size if you didnt find it already: get a piece or string and run it around all your pulleys like the belt would rout... subtract an inch or so for the tensioner. go to napa and give them the length, then they hand you the belt you need. make sure you get the right number of ribs (width). i did this, belt cost like $10 and has been working great for over a year.

Still have mine, trouble-free (after total rebuild). I've always been impressed with the steering feel, and I don't think PS degrades communication at all--it just makes parking easier. It honestly feels like a manual rack above (like everyone says) a few mph. The pump, bracket and lines weigh maybe 6 lbs. Your call.

    What's your scrub radius?...

this. you're wasting your time filling it up and putting a plate on it. I just went to lowes and got some hose that fit over the banjo fittings after i drained out as much fluid as possible. fuck spending more than $10 on it -- just get something over the fittings to prevent extra junk falling into the rack. Even standard bolts with the correct thread size will do just fine.

the rack is internally lubricated so you don't need to worry about having fluid in there. It's just hydraulic fluid to push the rack to each side.

Yes, this is the delete you will want to buy. Dont just plug it, at that point you might as well just remove the belt.

Best bang for buck mod you can do to these cars.

Silence on these boards also sells a delete plate. I got rid of mine and will never go back. Note that removing the pump and installing as block plate or something results in a much different feel than just removing a belt.

Most of the SpecE30's have deleted their PS. Our E30 Lemons car had PS, and no one on the team like it, so we deleted it too.

The SpecE30 types did some research and concluded that PS delete was worth 5hp. That seemed like a lot so we tried to shoot down that conclusion, but the body of research made it stand. So it's the easiest 5hp you're going to get from an E30 and it's 10lbs removed from the worst possible place, forward of the front wheels.

I've been selling a PS delete kit for a while. Cheapest one avail and it comes with instructions. If it takes you longer than 30min to install you need to put your beer down and use both hands. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1559934

There is a brief thread about that specific topic. I used the Mini Cooper S (R53) belt-- it works perfectly. I suggest searching to confirm before your purchase, it has been 2 years since I swapped my car, hence a long time since I had to buy a belt.
