    US Drift Returns to VIR



    What:
    ... US Drift is making its return to VIR's Patriot Course March 24, 2012.

    This is a practice event and is open to all skill levels.

    We will also be offering a spotter class to help better prepare those looking to move up to the competition level.

    This will be a fun and relaxed event, come out and get plenty of track time and hang out with friends.

    Saturday, March 24, 2012

    Where:
    VIRginia International Raceway
    Patriot Course
    1245 Pine Tree Road
    Alton, VA 24520


    Cost:
    Driver: $100 pre-registration
    $150 event day
    Spotter Class: $50 per person

    Send via PayPal to mike.c@usdrift.com and include your full name, dob, address, phone number, and year/make/model of car.

    Rules:
    Car must pass basic auto-x technical inspection to drive on track. Must be 18+ or older to participate, so bring your ID (this includes passengers too). If you want to tandem with others, be sure you have all of the required safety equipment.

    All participants are required to provide their own Snell approved helmets.

    Track Schedule:
    7:00am - 7:30am registration
    7:00am - 8:00am technical inspections
    8:00am - 8:15am drivers meeting
    8:15am - 12:00pm on track
    12:00pm - 1:00pm lunch break
    1:00pm - 5:00pm on track

    Spotter Class Info/Schedule:

    Instructors: Mike Schnedier, US Drift and XDC Judge
    Mike Collins, US Drift and XDC Cheif Steward

    The spotter class class will consist of classroom discussions as well as track observations. The main focus of the class will be to train spotters in what to look for and how to properly communicate with the their driver during a competition setting. As well as go over basic event procedures that are common at most major competitions.

    Below is a short description of what will be covered (other topics will be covered as needed):
    - event procedures (registration, technical inspection, drivers meetings, media)
    - competition format
    - judging criteria
    - qualifying judging
    - tandem judging
    - driver/spotter communication
