For me right now it would be I'd rather learn on something smaller and then have a bigger engine.

I'm gonna quote a great man.
"Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races."
    -The Late Carroll Shelby
Coming from mustangs, I would rather have a motor with a shit ton of torque and little horsepower than very little torque and alot of horsepower. You can feel the difference and with drifting torque is gonna play a key factor in getting that car sideways.

Sounds like initial d lol. But I'd rather be the underdog with a smaller motor that can drive then a big add motor to compensate for my shitty skills.

build the 302 up and drop it in a 240sx preferably s13. unless you are just doing like street/ kart track drifting then the e30 is fine.

Used tire shops will be a good place to get decent priced tires but arent going to give take offs away because they wont make money. Ive got a buddy who owns a shop so i get new at cost and he gives me take offs because it costs him to get rid of them.

Les swab and dealerships have a tendancy to talk Dummys into swapping all 4 if they have 1 bad one so i have a buddy who will grab good sets when he digs in the les swab trailer by his house and anouther friend that is a service writer at a local dealership so i can go thru there stuff too.
So it cost money for the tire shops to get rid of tires that's a plus will be easier to get. I should be good on bottle caps its only a eta as of right now. I'll look for some better drift spares any wheel recomendations and tires for the front?

The front needs to be a quality sticky tire for the track. I suggest getting a seperate wheel set and tires for daily duty and track duties.
I'm definitely going to hit up the local tire shops for throw aways. Are they usually pretty cool about it? And whats a good wheel size for drifting will bottle caps work?

Also a terribly assembled crate engine has nothing to do with any other engine new or old.

Used unless you're pro, or have lots of cash to burn(literally). Best thing is to go to tire shops and such, and see if you can take some of your size from the soon-to-be recyled pile.

Think some 30 yrs older crap is better?
So you're taking one instance, and making a complete generalization? Also, did I not already say he'd be better off with a newer engine?

The ideal? You'd want about 950/1100. I run 450 and 700, though I definitely want to up it a few hundred.
