Sounds like a 351. It also looks like it has a y2k hood on it. May be an sn95cobra r or a transplanted new edge. I know the only models that have the aftermarket option for the y2k hood is a new edge or an sn95. The sn95 though has the 351 in it stock.
I did some poking around and found a group with a website that may be of use to you. I assume you are located on the west coast since your "location" says Sacramento.
It didn't look like any SCCA groups around that area do Hillclimbs, but I really only looked around for about 10 or 15 minutes. But if anyone knows, it seems like this NHA would have a pretty good idea. Best of luck to you and I hope you get as addicted as I did!!!
nice dude, ive always wanted to do a hill climb event. what exhaust setup do you run?
My exhaust is IE shorty headers to 2.25 in dual exhaust, each exhaust pipe has a Dynomax bullet race muffler, and then it all runs out the back into a Vibrant Streetpower muffler.
I haven't seen this one posted, is the owner on here? I am curious on how someone would join to run something like this? It looks FUN!!
:D The owner would be me. That hillclimb was in Robbinsville, NC. It is an absolute blast and racing up a hill or mountain definitely adds a little something different than racing around a track. Not saying its better, just different.
As it has already been stated, the hillclimb was done with the SCCA. I am not sure of other regions doing hillclimbs so unfortunately I am of no help in pointing you in any particular direction of who does them on the West Coast. The events are done through the Time Trials program, and hillclimbs are considered Level 4 events. Level 1 is PDX, Level 2 is Club Trial, Level 3 is Time Trial, and Level 4 is Hillclimb. The main difference between each level is mainly the safety requirements for the car and driver. Hillclimbs require a 4 point rollcage (although 6 is highly recommended), SFI/FIA cert seats, SFI harness 5 point minimum, fire extinguisher, SFI suit, gloves, socks, a helmet, and that's basically about it. There may be a few other small tidbits that I have forgotten, but hopefully you're getting the jist of what it takes. Which really isn't all that much especially if you already have a track car.
To get your Time Trial License through SCCA, you can do it one of three ways.
1) Go to a weekend school, get signed off at the end and you send in your paperwork.
2) Attend three Level 3 events, send in your paperwork, get your license.
3) If you have other experience with other organizations, NASA, BMWCCA, PCA, etc you can send your info to a licensing steward in your region or neighboring region and he could sign you off and then send in your paperwork and get your license.
Once you get your Time Trial License, you are allowed to run a Level 4 hillclimb. Hope this has been helpful!!!
