VIR has a corkscrew but it isn't nearly as steep (but is spooky in the snow). It was there for the first time years ago, that I realized, "Yes, fwd cars can oversteer."
Out of curiosity, why did you run in an intermediate group? How much experience did you have in other people's cars? The entry/exit/apex cones are cheating :P
turn 2 is a single or double apex corner depending on traffic in the way
turn 5 is a "how good is my footwork setup corner"
turn 6 is " how well can I hang on to speed to the point of loosing the rear on corner exit"
turn 7a/7b......

Cones are kinda cheating if you don't know what you're doing. We knew the track pretty well from sims, I didn't notice them until later in the day.

In fact, here is what happens when you brake at the top of the Corkscrew....

LOL! Trailbrake the Corkscrew....Ok Mr. Zanardi.
I guess you might see God there.....but that's not the answer the judges are looking for. I completely missed it the first 4 times I was there.
Seriously...there is something specific you see. Anyone know what it is? Here is a hint: You really shouldn't be looking at it.

I can't wait for our Spec E30 race 4th of July weekend at Laguna.
Originally posted by Fooshe View PostI have raced and done HPDE's at Laguna quite a few times and the first couple times through the cork screw is a blast. But after that, it really is a none event. The real pucker factor turn is #9. That one really tests how much hair is on your peaches!
Trivia question: What can you see (specifically) when you get to the top of the cork screw?

6 was my favorite. Pitch the car in, use the cambered uphill to compress the car down in, tiny slide on the apex berm, and floor it out.
Soooo damn fun. I honestly never had trouble with getting a good line through it, I had troubles with the others far more. I tried late apexing it a few times as well as cutting the apex berm, and figured out the fastest line was using only a little bit of the inside berm and staying OFF the outside berm, just kissing it with the tires. I gained half a second once I started doing that line.
I tried a bunch of different lines through 9 and never could settle on a good one. Cannot wait to go back with tires that actually will grip instead of give up unexpectedly.
