Ideal tire for 16x8.5 on an e30

Do you recall what forum had the quality control discussion?

Almost 2.5 lbs heavier than the 15x8s I run, and your wheels are still heavier than a 15x9.

Its just 280mm RX7 kit. The K1 I run is tight on the caliper, but I know there are 'some' 15" wheels that will fit. I have other reasons for 16", and for a stockish e30 I agree a 15" will perform as well as a 16" if it fits but IMO it won't look as good. You're also right about 300mm brakes being more than enough, all personal preference at some point you know? The weight between my 16" and you're 15" is nominal, and I prefer the former.

Most definitely is personal preference.

My preference is all performance, couldn't give a damn about form.

Why? Heavier, more expensive tires, etc.

My track wheels are Kosie K1, pretty light. My street wheels are XXR 527 which are heavier than the K1 but still pretty light. I can't fit a 15" wheel over my bbk.

How big are your brakes? As you can see below, you can squeeze a 300mm rotor under the right 15" wheel. Ducting and proper pads and you'll never need any more than that on an E30.

I use my TRM C1s over the Massive Sport Kit. A slight shave of the caliper and it fits the barrel. The spokes have lots of clearance

I have absolutely no idea. Does UUC have a fitment template for it's kit? If so, you could possibly contact the vendor and say, "If you will check this template on your wheels, and they fit, I will buy a set."

As for 225/45 on a 9", refer to post #26.

As for fitting 6ULs with spacers, do some research. About what ET is needed to fit a 15x9 on an E30.

There are some Konigs that fit the bill. I'm running the Flatout's now, 15x8 Et25 with 205/50 R888s. Check out www.good-win-racing.com

It easily fits this 11" Dynapro setup.

I've seen numerous pics of as much as 1/8" difference in the depth of the spokes. That's a bunch when you're trying to stuff big brakes behind them.

I run 225/45/16 specs on 16x8.5 et27 at the track and love the setup. I also have a set of 16x8.25 et0 running 245/35/16 rear and 215/40/16 front for the street and they are great for cruising, but rub at full squat in the rear.

I don't know anything about trm's 9" wheels.

That's way too much money to spend on wheels alone especially since i just autocross for fun.

And good-win is about to release another option from Konig and another company that should work as well.

9" get's more difficult for E30s.....wait do the TRMs fit? I know they are heavy, but if buy a light cheap wheel and then have to use monster adapters that would probably weigh even more.

Or you can drop $3000 and have Jongbloed/Keiser or any number of other companies to build you 3piece wheels to your spec.

Good to know there's another cheap option out there for 15x8's. They have them in et20 too. Would just need to run rubcentric rings, no biggy.
