I use G-Force also, had a Bell before.
Most 'real' race supply outfits that sell helmets will work with you on trying them on to get a proper fit. It's just part of the process. I think it's going to be tough to find anyone who can really suggest something for you as noggin sizes and shapes vary so much.

Definitely try on as many as you can, as it seems that different brands fit differently. My old Bell seemed like it was intended for someone with a spherical head. There was a very uncomfortable pressure point on my forehead, and empty space on the sides. I've heard other people make the same comment about Bell. My new G-force helmet, on the other hand, fits like a glove, with an even, snug fit all around. VERY comfortable (for me, anyways). Try before you buy, as different brands (and models) may work better for different people.
I generally order from Saferacer.comLeave a comment:

Ive been where u r.........dont approximate. Northstar motorsports, Apex, racer wholesale......will allow some "home try ons" kinda. Ask for Shawnie at Racer Whole.... or Linda @ Apex........tell them you want to buy 2 ..or 3 but will only keep one.........they understand. If any want to charge service fee to return then walk......one for sure will allow a full return on helmets just "tried on"....you pay shipping back of course.........this should serve you well........hopefully you can handle a credit card sale of 2 or 3 lids and get the returns back timely..........its a great way to shop. GF and pyrotech and bieffe are priced low.......under 100?........that can be hard.Pocono and Apex Performance would cost me more to drive there then it would be to buy 3 helmets and hope one fits.
Yes I have researched, there's only so much that reading can do though. I am looking for people with experience with cheaper helmets. This way I can get my approximate helmet size and then order one online somewhere.Leave a comment:

g f direct or.........racer wholesale.....discovery parts......try Apex performance in Pa...... og racing..........go to Pocono raceway on a track day.......ask the guys for a fit. Did you really try to look on your own?.........there is SOOOOOO much info on line......open face is fine if you really want it...I ran open for 3 yrs w/ 10 track days per yr.....is it a bigger risk than closed?...yes....... are you very fast and experienced?..... get a brand name......and try on a lot.

Really? I wasn't aware of that.
OK, any reasonably priced full face helmets? I'll probably end up going over $100 now. I want something decent, I'll spend an extra $50 or so if I can get a much better quality helmet, but I really can't spend like $300 on one.
Anybody have any links to online sites with decent deals? I went through this last season wearing a medium size that flopped around on my head, which didn't bother me much, so if it doesn't fit perfect I really odn't care. It's better then the medium helmet which I no longer have access to.Leave a comment:

If you plan on tracking, get the closed face helmet. Open face helmets are scorned in the track community.Leave a comment:

Where exactly do you go to try on helmets? I don't know of any places local that sell them. There's a lot of bike shops, but no automotive/performance shops near me.Leave a comment:

That doesn't sound as bad as me, having a huge head. It's pretty damn huge if you see me in person. Trust me, its huge, odd shaped. :(
Yes definately go try a lot. When I go offroading, I spend more time finding the right helmet than I do riding. But then again, I don't get to ride much since I eat shit right away....Leave a comment:

I would definitely try a bunch on before you buy. I tried about 5 different helmets before I found one that fit right, which happened to be the GForce Pro Force 1 full-face.Leave a comment:
