my 1986 base model 325 did not come with AC. it was purchased brand new from a dealership in georgia. if american cars all got AC, it wouldnt surprise me, because my 86 has some weird stuff about it thats only on the euros.

Yeah even the rules state there can be various interpretations as to what's legal and what's not in SM, but to basically do your best to not reduce weight or modify the chassis, just make changes where needed, to make room for legal mods. I think SM was designed more to attract people to the sport.

Yeah I'm in SM, and other then the back seat and A/C everything else is very iffy. Who says they didn't forget to tar your truck :) but removing it, not really legal.

I've never seen a US spec car without either. In Europe and other markets, you could get a manual rack.

Yup. And if there's an e30 that stands a chance in Prepared I'd like to see it so I can drool all over it.

I'm guessing it's to alleviate the differences between options you can order on same-model cars. A lot of shitty American cars can be ordered without A/C, but no cars come without heaters.

This is one part of the rules I don't understand. I was under the impression and part that is bolted down cannot be removed.

    PS can't be deleted
AC can be (compressor & brackets, hoses, receiver/dryer, condenser, aux fan. Then replace the aux fan with an aftermarket one that works better and dump the engine fan)
    Heater can't be
