That's a great idea. Can't wait for the driving season to kick in.

Oh, and I agree with you - that is a bad spot for wiring.

HMmmm...I really would have to disagree with it being dangerous all of the harness that side is fused!
it would be no more dangerous than a front end impact where any other wiring is....also the battery cut off switch is in reach from the drivers seat and outside of the car...
FWIW the main battery cable (not fused) is not run behind the cage...
Her is another spec e30 car...same thing

I have been doing tech for BMWCCA CR at a few events, and the wiring going between the shell and a tube is a big no-no. Think about what can happen if you get even a slight side impact, but strong enough to move the rocker. There will be a few sparks...

Thanks for the feedback I will measure tonight
It is strange that you say that about the wiring harness....the cage builder I used builds a great deal of the cages for the NASA spec e30 series in the SE...That is how I found him as a few of the racers have used my shop facilities for dyno work and the cage was just replicated and I assume they all have log books...

    Hi there.

The pedal is 3-1/4" x 9-1/2" and should fit properly between the forward tubes and the clutch pedal, but make your own tests by mocking up a rectangle of paper. The base of the dead pedal will be bolted ahead of the block, and you will have to cut some of that diamond plate, and also maybe remove/cut one of the two upper mounting tabs on the dead pedal to fit around the plate on the firewall. But removing one of the tab is one of reasons why they are separated.

That being said, and I would hate to criticize your cage builder but I doubt that your cage will pass inspection (at least with BMWCCA CR) as the electrical loom should not be going between the rocker and the block. If you have an accident, it will crush the wires and risk electrical fire.

Do you think it would fit mine with the cage blocks?

I will ask people to post some pictures when their unit is installed.

    Hi Ray

The four dead pedals are designed for LHD cars. But I am pretty sure that one of them will fit a RHD. The Hartge-style should fit a RHD as it is designed to fit over the mushy foam foot rest. It should be ready in a week.

    LHD only?

Should be priced the same for the Hartge-style, and a bit more for the M-Technic style as there are more folds and more metal surface.

Got an approximate price on the one for cars retaining their carpet? I am very interested.
