Oh, and that is an E46 M3 rear disc, minus the calliper that hasn't been fitted yet, and the wheels are going to be stripped and painted Lime Green to go with the Alpine white and Lime Green theme, the white tic tac car was the original inspiration for the paint job.

Nope, that is Andreas car I assume you are talking about the car with the M20 3.0lt stroker build?

This car has a S50b30Euro sitting about in our garage waiting patiently to go into it home.

It's great to finally have the car getting painted it's been a long time waiting. I hope all the little tweaks and changes (like raised rear subframe, tubular control arms, solid mounted everything, huge brakes front and rear, loads of small things that I have left out.

Here is a pic of the rear ride height, but it's not as low as we would like due to shocks that are on the car (modified e36 Group N) being a bit too long, as it stands there is only about half an inch travel on the shocks, which is fine with a (650lbs coilover rear spring) We are going to get new shocks manufactured for the rear, to get the extra travel and be able to run it lower. I would still like the car to come down another inch, currently it's about 60mm lower in the rear (which is fine due to the raised rear subframe which helps with geometry correction, and it also has camber and toe adjustments)

It's no problem at all. That is a pretty strong area and if one feels the need it can be reinforced as well. The first cage I designed for my JS M3 back in '00 I had the main hoop mounted there.

My car is almost done at the fabricator and it's done the same way. In fact, my cage will be very similar to the one in the thread above...some minor changes.

    Cheers.
Do you have any better shots of where that main hoop mounts? Is it laid back to the rear of the car slightly or are my eyes decieving me?

You mentioned not liking plinth blocks, do you usually drill the chassis to drop the cage or cut the roof off?

The cage is welded thru a full 360deg, we also didn't make use of plinth blocks as it is not required by our rules body here in South Africa, but it is all re inforced.

Reason that there are no real gussest on the cage is due to not having a Dimple Die, and press.

In the future I would like to change the door bar to a 3d X as it is basically just a skin with a hinge and a catch, and the main hoop diagonal.

Also look at the Trans Tunnel, the previous owner was going to fit some type of Iron Block V8 into this car :S

These are the only pictures I currently have, when the car is back from paint. I will be able to snap some more, along with the other custom made goodies, aka tubular control arms... etc etc.
If possible, simply add another diagonal to create an X in the main hoop. Stiffness/performance is increased somewhat (obviously not as much as the initial diagonal) but you most certainly have improved roll over protection. Personally like a symmetrical cage as well.

That's a good reason to go ahead and install an X...

The most difficult part of the whole thing was deciding to strip all the paint off the car once the cage had been done...

So that mean't paint stripper and angle grinder, although it took my father and I just one weekend to from start to finish to strip it, and re primer the car. Glad we did there were like 5 different colours on the car.

I am currently building a rollcage for my 2002 racecar with S14 motor. The main hoop is aligned with the B pillar, and the harness bar is curved to the back for extra clearance with the seat. Also, the base of the A and B pillar (forward bars and main hoop) tubes are notched, and then welded directly on the rockers.
