the only problem I see with highway 150 is that there really is no help or places to stop for gas or anything. Its like a 50 mile trip one way and the only way to get up there is to go up the 5 freeway or go through ojai. But it would be kind of redundant if we went through Ojai up into the mountains and then flip a u and come back down. We did a fun drive a while back where we went up the 101 and got off at Casitas Pass road. Thats the drive that I planned out. It went well except for the fact that some douche blew up his rear end and we had to wait for him. We could extend the trip a little further than we did that day but we cut it short due to people arriving late and some mishaps. I really want to get another drive together. It will be a month or so before it happens. It was a lot of fun but we will have to do it earlier in the day so we have plenty of time. What I also want to do is get something to eat with all you guys. So we will have to get a group consensous on preferred food. That way we can make everyone happy.
There are a lot of good places to eat in Ojai or Ventura so selecting a place should be easy.

having a lowered car with no skidplate, you are just asking for trouble. Sounds kinda mean but really.
Maybe the next ride can be further north? Like my area? We can go up into the mountains like we did before and on the way back we can stop at a big place to eat.
just a thought

How about the road up past Wheelers Gorge all the way up to the back of Frazier Park?
Then come back down and have lunch at the Deer Lodge (the biker bar down in Ojai).Leave a comment:

it's already an hour away from me, dude. I don't really want to go much further.
If we can plot a circuit that's interesting the whole way around, people can join in from the parts that are closer to them and take a partial caravan most of the way around.Leave a comment:

Great post Rob! Can't believe all that drama happened after we left. We need to do this more often, it was awesome how we took over PCH!!! :)Leave a comment:

That was a rightous cruise worthy of a full blown adventure. It was my first time doing a canyon cruise like that I had a really good time. I started to meltdown at the end due to starvation, dehydration, frustration and sun burn, But damn when it was all said and done, It was a great ride.
For some reason I am having issues with photobucket so it will not let me load any pictures or video.
The canyon run was obviously the best part, and I have to be honest, it was pretty serious driving. I came around a 15mph a little too fast and popped a fender into the oncoming lane only to be greeted by several crotch rockets that where about to occupy the same line.
I was fortunate enough to be able to drive Mrs Angelas little E30 and I had just recently done a thorough suspension overhaul with H&R's, Billy sports, UUC sway bars, Akg bushings and complete new controls arms and tie rod ends along with all the other stuff that goes into it. The car performed flawlessly through the whole event, never got hot, never lost clutch or brakes, the only thing that did happen was the shift knob came loose.
There was a few break downs along the way. Tree started losing oil through a cracked oil pan. Trooper man, stuck with it and JB Welded that bitch back up with oil pouring all over the street, got it to hold and made it through the rest of the trip with his ever lasting smile! Tree, call me, I have a oil pan and gasket waiting for you.
Kronus lost his clutch on the freeway and was able to get it to a divider lane and every body crowded around him, like a impromptu E30 meet under a overpass on the freeway. Day was getting hot, freeway traffic sucked, street traffic was bad. A few of us got separated along the way.
At the end of the day, Everyone stayed the course, nobody left anyone behind and hopefully everyone made it home ok.
Kick ass and I would love to do it again!
Big thanks to Iron E30 for being a big player in organizing the event, and keeping everyone together. Managing a unruly mob of 18 E30's through the freeways, highways, and canyons of LA is a pretty huge task. He and others, sorry I don't remember everyone's names, did a great job despite the several issues that occurred during the day.
Next time, lets make the ending point at a resturant or something so we can replinish after a long stressfull drive. Although I have to say I really dug the ending point, that was a unique place and I certainly could appreciate the choice.
I will see about posting some more pictures later when photobucket decides to cooperate.

Oh ya, a few of you expressed interest in my skid plates after seeing Trees mishap with the oil pan. I will leave you with a couple links to get more information.

and I thought I was over white e30s before. . . and then the pictures get posted
paint your cars dammit.
seriously though, why so many white e30s? since when did a red e30 become the minority??
looks like it was a good time though. I liked the last photo stop.
