No real racing experience, but I have some car control experience and I feel confident to hop out there do the test & tune. I assume we sign up in person?Leave a comment:

hmm could bring the wrx out if i just raise the suspension...or the vr4. maybe the beater e30 would be best haa.Leave a comment:

you can do the school (which is half-day school/half-day test&tune) or just the full-day test&tune. I'd suggest the former if it's your first time out, especially if you don't have previous racing experience.Well it sounds like I have no excuse but to give it a shot! I'm running 185/65 firestone winterforce, which should give me a little bit more height. Far as skidplate goes, I have a donor so I can just install that. Do we have to sign up for the drivers school and need to be part of scca?
you can get a daily/weekend membership for $10 - I think SCCA is about $75 for a yearly membership, though it does have other benefits as well.....Leave a comment:

we have an e28 running with that setup, and he does take some hard contacts off his skidplate occasionally. I would suggest using a skid if you're going to run lowered.
people who say that are the ones on stock-height cars
yes, snow tires are used by most people. A handful of us use rally tires, and some people use all-seasons, but snows are by far the most popular, especially at Summit.Hmm..maybe I can take the skid plate off my brothers e30 and throw it on mine for the time being. I would love to do some rally with the e30, but I don't want to bottom out or something if there are any major bumps and dips on the track. I've got some sways I could throw on, but I don't have the reinforcement kit for it...
Oh and winter tires should be alright for dirt tracks right?Leave a comment:

I have an m42 and I went all season last year without a skid plate. (I know scary right) But I was fine... only got scared a couple times were there were ruts forming in some of the corners.Hmm..maybe I can take the skid plate off my brothers e30 and throw it on mine for the time being. No, just sign up for the test&tune or just sign up and race. It is a blast. I started mid-season last year with a $900 car, a $100 skidplate, and $300 in tires.Well it sounds like I have no excuse but to give it a shot! I'm running 185/65 firestone winterforce, which should give me a little bit more height. Far as skidplate goes, I have a donor so I can just install that. Don't ask what I have spent as of now...Leave a comment:

I will be the first to say that I just don't know about the Race springs. We have an e28 on H&R Sport or Race and he has managed to bottom out ONLY by driving like a dummy when NOT on the course. On the course he has not had an issue. He does have a skidplate.
I personally run stock springs, which are fine except when my co-driver does something dumb...which he does somewhar regularly. Lots of guys in lowered Subarus do just fine with their DD on the courses that are laid out.
You can pick up a skid plate for somewhere in the $100-125 range. If I had Race springs on my e30, I'd want a skidplate on there all of the time- but that is just me.Leave a comment:

I think motivation gets away from him sometimes. I don't blame him. He'd rather drive than wrench.Leave a comment:

Well he did have 4 subarus at one point, and made fun of me for not working on my cars, when he had an engine for one of his broken cars sitting in his garage for 2 years.Leave a comment:

Snow tyres are used fairly common in rallyx, though I havent done a rallyx since they were back in Orange, I dual drived a SAAB, and the Bolivian Rolly Team would roll their cars.Hmm..maybe I can take the skid plate off my brothers e30 and throw it on mine for the time being.
