No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

                        Sweet pictures.

For its time, it was a great car. Not disputing that. My dad still owns the 535i/5 he bought new in 86, on which I learned to drive and took skiing quite often. I'm very fond of that E28.

It's still an old, slow, noodle-chassis car, and modern cars are light years better in every conceivable way except outward visibility. They cost a lot to keep on the road, have odd electrical gremlins, very poor chassis dynamics, abysmal brakes, a motor that has no power and hates to rev beyond its 2000rpm torque peak, horrid gas mileage, slow as a truck steering and about as feel-full, and so on. Fact, not opinion. I've quite literally two hundred thousand miles of driving and riding in one under my belt, and of maintaining one in great shape. Let's just say I've more experience living long-term with one than I'd like, or probably any of you, and my opinion stems from that. You won't find one in better shape than my Dad's, and it's STILL a pile of ancient scrap.

I'll never sell Dad's, as it's as much a member of the family as I am, but I'm never ever buying one.

Posting this car should be a bannable offense.
