Need some advice from others that have been there..

I need to pull a block (no head, no pan) off an engine stand, I have a hoist, my buddy told me to use headbolts and washers to attach the block to a chain, than to the hoist.

I was thinking a THICK tie down, would do the trick. Wrap the tie down around the center of the block and lift it off the stand, or should I grow some balls and just hold on to it while I have someone disconnect it from the stand and set it down? Just curious what you all have done in the past..

Car is going with me. Moving to Hawaii. The e30 picnic will most likely be my last e30 meet.

Paolo, a strap should work. Use more than one point to lift from though. You don't want it getting away from you at 4 feet up.

Just curious, aside from the weather and sand and beaches etc. Why Hawaii? I wonder what the job market is like up there.

I hear the roads are tight and twisty!

And usually very damaged and torn up. We have damaged a couple rental cars on the Hawaii/Maui/Kauai roads haha

Diesel boat mechanics do well and are in demand out there.

I have a job over there whenever I want it. My cousin runs a rum cake business in Kona. There's aboslutely no way I'd live over there, no snowboarding.

In other news got a DD today, 92 Accord. So stoked, time to finally get the iX on jack stands and start tearing it down.

Btw I just finished hooking up the cooling system on my car, and the lower radiator hose is leaking slowly but steadily?!?

Any idea why? I haven't bled the system yet (24v swap with late model 325i rad setup), and a previous car acted the same way until It bled itself?!

                              Helppppp plleeeeeeewaaaase!

Well my buddy is looking to sell his car soon and we got some ebay coils for it to increase resale value.

front suspension the upper a arm wont even let the spring compressor fit through.. so putting stock springs on would be super hard.

The rear shock we were tightening down the top gland nut and had this setup:
rathcet with hex socket inserted into shaft
                                14mm wrench over outside.

I was tightening the nut down and the shaft of the shock fucking cracked off!! I am 95% sure I wasnt stripping it but still annoying.

Off to junkyard tomorrow to grab a new strut, ugh.
