      Anybody have a set of early tails I can buy? Doesn't need to be perfect. I trust my body shop but they are using my startecs to mock up my quarter panels and it is making me a bit nervous...

        Been looking at those ever since my brief time at Mercedes. They're very bulletproof with basic maintenance.

          Thats what i gather. With room for the whole family, comfortable, has cupholders and working ac, im sold.
          Plus they are pretty cheap these days.

            The 1 and only downside is that you can't blow the doors off the E39 M5 like the W211 AMGs can.

                Its either the e55 or an e39 540i Msport. Either are in the same price range.

                  I'd go for the E39 first. It's better supported and the E39 is universally recognized as one of the last great 5 series platforms. One of my coworkers has an E55 AMG, and he hates it. Every time something breaks (often) it's a PITA to find parts.

                      If I got an E39 it would have to be an M5. Would get the E55 over a 540i.

                      Parts aren't that bad if you have a good vendor. Just like any other brand.

                            Must be a w211. I hear the stress of the supercharger on those cars makes things break like mad.
                            The w210, on the other hand, is an N/A motor and gets quite a bit of positive reviews on longevity.
                            I would go e39 m5 but i dont exactly have 20k to spend...
                            540i seems like the next best choice but the interior of the e39 leaves alot to be desired.
                            As a fan of bmws in general, im kind of stuck in a tough spot.

                                From what ive seen, depending on the vendor, you can grab normal maintance parts for cheaper than some e30 parts.
                                Of course dealer is going to charge alot. Same goes for any german car...
