That idea has been discussed before. James put the kibosh on it because it is too much hassle to maintain. Apparently, this forum software leaves a bit to be desired.

this is how i think it should go... -Classified Forums, 2 options - For Sale or - Wanted, after that -Location= -PNW -SW -SE and so forth..

I like the 14 day self destruct idea other than the fact that it's nice to have old ads out there to understand what the market is. Often when I'm buying, selling, or looking for something I use the old ads to know what I should charge or expect to pay.

Maybe after a month, the old FS ads can get moved off to an archive section, so they're still there but no longer "for sale."

I'm not sure how my comment is not true? Ads still get pushed down the list quickly unless you constantly bump it

There is a rule that you cannot re-post within a certain time frame so basically you post it and if it ends up on page 4 of the thread, it stays there. People wanna find your item again they just have to go back to page 4 etc..

In all honesty I just wanted to open up the discussion about doing something to clean up the FS threads. There is a lot of good ideas that have been discussed and its moving in a forward direction now so thats a good thing. Im down for what the majority decides

I dont like the idea of self destructing posts, because how it sits right now, its nice to do your research before buying and selling, you just search the old ads. That way you get a ballpark figure. Without the old ads, parts will go up.

You should get a pm once you've posted your for sale add that says "this message will self destruct in 14 days" lol

Not true...

The vortex one is a sticky for the term of 2- 3 months then the sticky is removed when it expires and a new one is started. It works good. Right now if someone posts a FS and nobody comments it ends up 4 pages down on the list...

Anyways it was just an idea to clean up the page a but not a big deal.

I agree with you, Dan. Something should be done, but I think the community has spoken on this. I will be seeing James soon, I will see if he has any ideas. What do you think of my "14 day self destruct" idea?

He probably doesn't care, he never sells anything, he just hoards it.
