Depends. Once you have a judgement, you can take whatever steps needed to recover your "winnings." This includes garnishing wages, seizing bank accounts, placing lien against property. Or you can sell the judgement to a third party collection agency. Just think, for once, the collection agency will be calling around to get money FOR you!

I felt the same way when I found out my cage was fubar'ed on the race car. I had the guy fix it, but was unsure if i felt he did the due diligence to correct it. After moping around the house for days, my wife finally said, "either do something about it, or move on." Good advice, coming on here and bringing it up all the time does nothing..

He needs to either file in small claims, put together a posse and break some knee-caps and get his stuff, or move on. Eventually, people will stop caring and it will just become background noise. Then, what's the point.

Just do it.

Or, keep making his "business" hard for him. Because that's all a judgement from a small claims court will do, dude. I've spoke to TWO laywers. Are you a Lawyer? Do you want to come on up and be a posse member? No? Then... yeah.

Small claims doesn't require a lawyer. When I filed, I did it all myself, and you just pay the filing fee ($35 in King County) and then you may often have to get a Sheriff to serve the defendent papers (another $20 or $30 IIRC.) Then you just make sure you have enough documentation before going in front of the judge. He must show or you will get a default judgement in your favor. It's worth the little bit of time to do it, in fact the amount of time you take to come on here or or search Craigslist for this guy you could have already filed and started the process.

Doesn't change the fact that it is nearly impossible to extract the money from the person. Sure you can get a judgment, that's the easy part!

I would love to file a small claims court dispute but honestly, I don't have the time or the money to really do that. Not to mention that after having received legal advise from not one, but two lawyers, they both said the same thing: I can file and have a strong case considering, I still wont really see any money. That's not really worth it in my eyes. I know I'm right. I know he owe's me money. Having a judge tell me that wont be any consolation.
