    totally

but in the real world spending 6000$ for an e30 with an m3 engine, vs 6000$ for an e36 m3....

on the e30 message board that sounds like a cool idea. And at the e30 meeting.

But on planet earth that sounds like a really dumb idea. Thats not money well spent.

It is if youre happy lol my only point is most people would be way happier with a whole modern pimpin real m3 car with real pimpin m3 wheels and leather and vaders than a old school vinyl door e30 that hauls ass.....

that doesnt sound reliable to me at all ill skip that tech.

Modern cars already have the double clutch, thats the only auto Id want. I would request one of those, mostly in new vws but some in bmws too.

when youre switching the gears of a standard auto yourself youre just killing it. And sure, lexus bmw whoever would love for you to do it.

It would be fun to put a modern performance motor from a more modern performance car into your old trusty rusty.
But it doesnt make any sense...

I dont know its just taste cars are just cars. But seriously, whats more pimping an m3? Or my old ass bmw with a m3 motor in it?

the thing about is300s is they are almost always automatics.

Well I think a bunch of people on r3v would disagree with you on the e36 vs e30 topic...but then for the is300's, I would prefer an automatic. They all come with the "paddle shifters" behind the wheel that make for some spirited driving when you want it.

I'd wait on Tue swap I'm in college too and so want to tear into my motor and build a m20 stroker. There is just to many things that can add money/go wrong and mess up school. Plus you don't have any tools or a place to work on it, what happens when your buddy gets pissed off and tells you to move your 50% complete car. I know how you feel but I think it's best to wait.

haha good information everybody. Thank you. I think I have a better idea about what i'd be looking for now. Probably whatever car in good condition arrises first between a late model e30 coupe or e36 m3/is300/wrx.

It almost certainly is a better buy to get an e36 m3. particularly from the resale market.

if you were to swap in a s52, unless someone is doing it for free, you are spending a premium to make a frankenstein...

If you want to learn how to pull an engine, come out to Bremerton MOnday or Tuesday, and we will get it done!

Honestly, with the amount of documentation available on the 24v swap, if you have all the parts, it should be done in a weekend. I put an m52 in my car with 2 others, over a weekend, stripped the car friday, was driving it again sunday. And that was 5 years ago, when Plug n Play harnesses weren't really available.

haha I've seen all the shit 5toes gets and I am not on that level. I redid all the suspension on my current car with the help of a r3v member and that was pretty cool. Then just the other day I swapped out the vert top with Austin. So I know how the network is, I was just wondering about engine swaps and if that was even a possibility.
