Right now the date is definitely going to be the 18th and 19th of August.

Abrams Creek and Look Rock camping grounds are right off the Foothills Parkway which is on the west edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. Both sites are about 10 miles from Deals Gap.

If we end up moving the location to a campground in Townsend due to forest fires then we will be about 20 miles from Deal Gap. This weekend I will try to explore as many options as possible.

I think Ely and I are planning to recon the area this upcoming weekend. We may have to find a different camp site in the area maybe slightly closer to Townsend depending on the forest fire situation in the Smokies right now.

According to my step dad the area around Abram's Creek has a small forest fire burning so it might be closed this season depending on how many acres get burned up and if it burns through the camping area. It's been very dry here so pray for rain in East TN

That sounds like a great plan. Can't wait, my new Alpine will be tearing it up with the 2.9 by then and hopefully all the kinks in the tuning will be worked out.

*UPDATE*

Ely and I talked a bit last night and we discussed possibly setting up camp at Abrams Creek or Look Rock to camp out Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday evening could be the meet and greet dinner and then Saturday late afternoon - evening have a big cookout after the run maybe have a good photo shoot.

One of the lodges at Deals Gap is an alternative for those of you who are too scared to sleep in the woods.
