I would not expect fiberglass.
There would typically be seam sealer in the joint between the fender and the engine bay.
Hard to make out in the pictures, but probably an old rust repair....

Used to be able to get "aircraft stripper", but they've stopped selling it in Canada. Is it still available in your area?
Paint just melts off with the stuff, but not sure how it would...

Just finished a fuel system refresh on the Monster today.
Also changed the front brake master cyl as the original was leaking.
Bike is buttoned up and ready for the riding season!...

I actually picked up an entire spare houndstooth interior in 2016. Took me two years of consistent searching to find it.

Feb-Mar 2024 Update
We've had a very mild winter, with only a few snowfalls. Got more use out of the car then usual which was nice.

I see what you're saying about the extra forces. But I don't see it being massively different then muscling a manual rack around.
Granted manual racks typically have a higher ratio to make steering...

WTB: E36 Trunk Lock Assembly w/Key
450k on the Project Canyongrun chassis and my trunk lock finally bit the dust today. Thankfully it failed with the trunk unlocked/open!
