Have you replaced the flexible hoses? I have heard of an obstructed hose effectively acting like a check valve and not letting fluid return and therefore keeping the calipers engaged.

I have had problems with the cruise related to the instrument cluster. If you have a spare cluster, try swapping it out. My car kept dropping the cruise at speed and a different speedo solved it.

Super rich conditions are usually the ECU on the M10 318i. Make sure to get the correct ECU for the M10 - there were two, early and late, on North American cars. An early ECU will not run a later car....
