It's an interesting concept and I can see how the equal length makes it sounds better. I'm wondering if BMW didn't use them because of the added cost to manufacture, or the added back-pressure/decreased...

OP, did your uncle decide to be a cool uncle?
It seems like a Boxter would be really great, but also has some complexity and cost. A miata wouldn't have as much performance,...

Were do Audi TTs fall on the spectrum?
Honestly, a 6cyl z3 or z4 would probably be a perfect candidate, but I want to try something other than a BMW for a while....

A SoCal car =/= a northeast car
My first e30 was a vert that I paid about $8k for back in 2007, and it was realllly clean. I also picked up twin $300 and $700 verts back in 2015. I'd think...

It's nice to just have 2 v-bands to take off and the cat comes right out. It's also tucked up in a spot that would be impossible to cut out. The stock one is on a shelf now and I've got a 49-state legal...

I don't know, I feel like a stock n55 sounds pretty good. It's still got a smooth straight six noise. It's even better this the MPPK muffler.
Also, n55 is a single turbo with a single cat...

I bought a kit from Thayer Motorsports, but they're closed now.
I've also heard about people using Porsche parts as upgrades for the dog ears and clutches. The stock equipment is more than...

$9.5k seems like the top of the market for that car. Missing trim, cracked dash, bad rear window, high-ish mileage, bottlecap wheels.
He's definitely not giving you the friends and family...

I've only seen them on a handful of cars, all convertibles. They probably helped to reduce some vibration, but a that's never been a noticeable issue on the cars I've had without it. If you have clunking,...

Just remove the damper and don't bend shit for no reason.
FYI, removing the damper will require 3 additional bolts since the damper uses 3 studs.Last edited by McGyver; 04-10-2024, 09:09 AM.

The only thing that's been a major pain on my n55 has been replacing the o-ring on a turbo coolant pipe. I went through 4 or 5 o-rings trying to get the thing on, but kept slicing the ring on the sharp...

Yeah, that's a pretty wild setup and a super cool looking car!
I'm also interested in why you have ITBs and FI. I always thought that FI would surpass any gains from ITBs, so a stock or modified...

I've got an f30 (sedan) with the n55 and a 6-speed. I really enjoy that car.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think all US f31s are 4-cyl turbos with automatics. I've read about timing chain problems...

My newest car is a 2014 335i (e30 to f30). It's been a HUGE step up in comfort and features. It's also been great to have so much reliable power. Sure, there are dumb things (cooling system, gummy door...

It's so funny to see an old post of mine saying EXACTLY what I would have posted today.
I really want to do some sound deadening for my 89 sedan. I've added a skid plate and x-brace that...

This is so true. I've had e30s with the original radiator that worked just fine after 20+ years and 300k miles. The plastic in my f30 radiator barely lasted 7 years and 90k miles before...
