Sorry, stupid busy - but is there any rust on the front IX axles? I'm wondering about the parts that go into the diff specifically it's hard to tell in the pics if it's just dust. Do you know how many...

haha, actually I've driven it pretty regularly the last few years. Ironically, when I was taking photos for one of the ix suspension threads, I noticed my passenger side inner CV-boot is likely ripped...

they just have to face away from the eccentric adjusters. there's about 200 degrees on the back of the cam where there's no lift on the valve, anywhere close to the center of that is fine.

you definitely gotta balance it, but the ix just naturally understeers a little due to the AWD. you can try to eliminate it, but at that point the car actually becomes unstable.

I had it apart a while back - still fine. they have a metal sleeve so the bushing itself doesn't actually move, so maybe that's why it never squeaked....

I don't know why it would be unnecessary. In my experience the understeer tendency is way worse without the swaybar. You could try to mitigate that with super stiff springs, but you won't like the ...

E90s are fantastic cars. I think they are pretty overlooked by BMW enthusiasts, especially the non-turbo models. Generally they're far more sturdy than an E46 (well, if you avoid the early 335i), comfortable,...

It's sort of irrelevant since I doubt they make the exact ones anymore, but I've been running the same 80A Ireland Engineering subframe and TA bushings for like 20 years now. damn, time flies!

the hole you have it plugged into now is so you can fit a bigger battery by moving the hold down over - the tube does have a place to go (don't remember off the top of my head) but that is definitely...

your post needs prices per the forum rules - how much for the front CV shafts?

I'm sure I had it written down somewhere in PMs or emails or text messages, but that's all long gone now!

So the whole point of shortening the housing is to gain suspension travel (when lowered). The goal is to maintain, or improve, the ride quality when you lower the car. The stock IX has like 2-2.5"...

Mike Rowe is awesome. Dave Ramsey is a joke. That would be like re-living McCain/Palin all over again....

I definitely had the ix housing shortened too, and it was much more than 1/2". you're thinking about my ix Bilstein HDs that I spent a fortune on to have them shortened and rebuilt by Bilstein in...

yeah, you're better off just getting somebody to do them for you. My rear adjusters are still GC and they're totally seized, if I ever want to do something different back there I'll have to cut them...

we're not talking about how much lowering - it's about how much is cut out of the tubes. You can cut 2" out of the tubes and still run stock ride height, but you gain a bunch of travel. Also 2"...

That response from GC irritated me so much I went out and got a picture. I have miles of clearance - you're not going to hit anything with shorter housings, unless they leave the stock perches on for...

1" isn't enough. I'm pretty sure my current housings are 3" shorter. 2" is definitely doable. I'm not using VW struts, lol.
They aren't going to hit unless you're running...

Just send me a PM when you're ready here. I don't really have time to do much with Bimmerlabs these days, unfortunately.

I don't think the 2.5l is worth it, no. Not only does it weigh about the same - it makes less power - and the 2.5 liter engines have issues with rings and burning oil. I'd imagine the swap costs/work...
