    I think I may have a problem?

This morning we discovered that there was some coolant on the floor of the drivers side.

So I warmed it up and took it for a test drive and nothing spilled out as I was driving it. So about 10 minutes later, I came back home, and opened the hood. I checked the oil cap and noticed there was very little yellow substance on it. But to me it wasn't enough to indicate that I had a cracked head, unless it recently cracked?

So I pulled out the oil stick and let some oil drop on the engine and I noticed there were bubbles in the oil, but the oil seemed to be the regular color.

Is that normal or do I have a serious problem ahead of me?

    Thanks in advanced.:)

Coolant on the floor is the heatercore and dosent have anything [other than sharing coolant] to do with the motor.

But isn't normally the heater core on the passenger side?

Nope, drivers side [as long as its left hand drive]. The heatercore and valve may have bad o-rings, or the plastic may be cracked on the heatercore, it gets brittle.

          Gotcha. Thanks.

But what about the bubbles in the oil?

            Thats just normal

The 'whitish' crap on the cap is usually from water getting into the oil, nothing to worry about.

Especially if your going on lots of short trips. I've seen M42's with suspicious looking oil if there is a combination of cold weather with lots of short trips.

If you haven't taken the car for a decent drive try it and I bet any condensation you have will clear up.

Have to love the E24... and the E30 of course.
