    "Oiling" front shock inserts?

I'm putting together my C3 coilover kit and a friend recommended I coat the front shock inserts with some type of oil. Has anyone else done this in order to prevent rusting or anything of the sort? Thanks in advance.

If they are gas shocks, you should add a little oil to them to aid in the cooling. If they are hydraulic shocks like Bilsteins, you remove all oil from the tube.

Thanks E30 Groupie, is there any oil in particular I should use, or is motor oil fine?

Instructions with the koni inserts recommend adding 50ml of oil, typically people use gear oil or motor oil. If your housings aren't shortened, the spacer at the bottom will make the 50ml useless...

If you are using the spacer, you need enough to reach the top of the spacer, and then 50ml more. Any oil is fine.
