    My Mtechnic2 325 project

So what im starting with is a 1990 325 mtech i got for $500.
    whats wrong with it?
    Brakes
    rear subframe bushings
    ball joints
    diff bushing
    trans output
    front main seal
shocks and rear springs are sagging
    diff output seals leaking
whine from rear end ( sounds like the hubs?)
    broken driver door lock

The other day i ordered all new OEM replacement parts to fix most of the above, besides the door, what i upgraded was,

    brembo rotors
hawk HP pluss pads all around
red line trans and diff fluid
    IE strut tower brace
    knockoff "chettah chip" off ebay
    cone air filter+ heat shield

Next paycheck will be IE stage 3 springs and bilstein shocks :)

I also have a 2.5" muffler, im gona make a custom manifold back system, no cats.

Then port heads, intake, throttle body

Im trying to keep it on a sub 2k budget, including the vehicle cost. Ill see if i can sneak a cage in on the budget...

This weekend, timing belt, lash valves, oil change, flud check. Nurburgring learing laps.

I put in the new timing belt, water pump and oil change on friday with Yan. We did it all in under 4 hours. I pulled out allot of usless crap like the radiator fan, shroud and piceces of plastic that were useless. We utilized the 10% rule, 10% of it is garbage anyways so its ok to have extra parts when ur done :) I cleaned up the distributor and rotor,, man was there nasty carbon buildup!! It runs allot better now, pulls harder for sure. And it still runs cool as hell with no fan.

We also pulled the ABS comp, abs light and check light. Does any1 know how to disable the abs without making the check light go off on a 90 325?

I got a new problem now thou, last night coming back from the BMW museum my car wouldnt shut off, my ignition was stuck on. But my tumbler would move and key would come out... hopefully it wont happen again. Mabey spray some silicone lube into the keyhole.

Also my exhasut is seriously faliing off now, we had to wire it up 2x on the trip to munich so im doing that this week. Catless single 2.5"

So far i spent about $900 on it but i havent got the $800 in parts from BMA yet. Yan said he might sell me his barley used bilstein sports and IE stage 3s for a steal so i think im gona go that route.

Just about every pic I ever see of a parking lot of a sidewalk in Germany has those wavy cobblestone bricks. :D

A funny story about Germany, that I can't believe I forgot until now.

We were nearing the end of my cross-country road trip, and pulling into a parking lot on the rim of the Grand Canyon. As I was turning various electronics off, a rented big Oldsmobile pulls into the spot next to us, loudly crunching its nose on the curb. An older gentleman, his wife, and their son get out of the car, all looking bemusedly at my e30.

I'm like "... hi guys". The gentleman responds with "zis is very nice BMW you haf!"
"hahah... thanks. You guys from Canada?" (I have no idea what I was thinking)
"no... from Deutschland, vhere this cars is made."
                "OOH... oh wow."
"ja, in our country, it is old people who drive this cars. Old people car. But very nice!"
                "well, thanks. Enjoy the canyon!"

The son was smirking at me this whole time.

OP - that is a kickass buy for 500 bucks. It would be a kickass buy for 5000 bucks, in fact.

I put a ghetto ass cone airfilter on today, sounds nice but i dont feel any more performance. Then again i also picked up a bunch of extra parts from a friend and i had a full tak of gas when i romped it.

I got another intake manifold, tb, and head so im going to start looking at where i can port out. I already have the die grinder and all the works. The exhaust ports on these engines is so restricted!! Only thing is i dont want to get too much into messing up the fuel ratio by porting the crap outof it, i dont want to mess with the engine tuning.

Im going to make a heat sheild tomorrow that routes cold air from nexto the radiator, and i think my chip came in the mail!! Then finally get this thing on the track for its maiden voyage with me.

heres some pics of extra parts, yan workin on my car and my engine

Well yan is sick so he didnt want to go tot the ring, its raining anyways.

So instead i put in the new red line fluids i got from turner motorsport

Imagine the blackest thinnest deisel engine oil, that was what my tran fluid looked like :/ The diff fluid was ok thou, just a bit cloudy and overfilled. I put in Red line 75w140 NS in the trans and 75w90 in the diff. Im not sure if i like using this trans fluid, i can feel the gears meshing when shifting allot more not sure if thats good or not. Hopefully this will solve my high speed whine problem.

I got the chop in today and put in in durring lunch. Pulls allot harder!! Waiting on the big shippnent from BMA now. And trying to locate a welder for my exhasut.

I ordered sets of 100w h1 and h3 bulbs. The stock lights are so dam dull compared to everything else on the road here.

I also bought a cheapo 14" electric fan to throw in so i dont have to worry about overheating durring summer in traffic. Ill wire it to a new stock looking switch nexto my hazzard switch.
