    Euro project.?.?

So ever since I sold my '90 4 door, I have been itching to get back into an e30. I wish I could say I just picked up my new project, but unfortunately that post won't be until some time in the summer of 09. However, in the mean time I am collecting parts for the project. It will be an '87 IS euro replica. I don't have all the details planned out yet, but I have been collecting parts. Here's what I've got so far.

Euro pass. side view mirror delete.

    MINT houndstooth door panels.
Not pictured: Euro bumpers front and rear, Euro front valance, IE stage 3 springs, IE 22/19mm sway bars, IE urethane all around, IE SSK, IE front and rear strut braces, IE rear camber kit, IE street/track front camber kit, Euro turn signal stalk, Rear headrest brackets, Euro headlight wipers, heated seat harness w/ switches.

Things I don't yet have: Smoked euro smiley ellipsoids, smoked euro tails, Euro grilles, sport houndstooth seats with rear headrests, euro cluster, e30 m3 5 lug, m30b35, and a bunch of other random euro goodies to finish it off.

I hope to have most of the parts collected while I attend STEP so that when I finish and get a real job again I can just pick up the car and put it together. Should make for a nice write up.

    Cheers,

    Brian

I've got a Houndstooth sport seat and a Houndstooth comfort seat if you want to buy them.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

I would be interested in the sport seat if the price was right. At the moment, I don't have a lot of money so if it is something I might find at the junk yard, I am holding off until I find it, or have more cash.

Me neither! I have an M30B32 iirc sitting at my friends house just waiting for me to come pick it up. I may just get that and use the lower displacement as an excuse to add some boost!

You're just jealous cause I got something you've never had on an e30 before. :-P Although I'm jealous that you have 4 e30's and I have none. :-(

Well in the next couple of weeks I am going to pick up my M30B32. I wanted a B35 but this one came up from a friend and is at a price I can't refuse, so it looks like I may be taking the money I will be saving and use it as an excuse to add a turbo to the mix. I'll post some pics of everything sometime after New Years.

                Cheers,

                Brian

OK. Here are some pics of the goodies I have collected so far.
Motor M30B32, pass. mirror delete, german check panel, wiper stalk for head light system (notice the "S" on the top. Press in like the OBC toggle on the wiper stalk, and it activates the head light wipers), heated seat switches and harness (still need to pull some blankets for these). There is no point posting pics of the turn signal stalk for the euro lights, because it looks the exact same. It just has an extra up and down movement to turn on the city lights.

                    More parts...
Head light wipers parts (still need a few things. I'm cleaning up what I have for now and painting a few things black), rear head rest brackets, M-Systems (will be doing e30 m3 5 lug), S38??? Unfortunately that will be staying in the M5 which will be the next build once the e30 is finished.

I'll post before and after pictures of the bumpers once I get them all refinished and ready to go on the car. Same with the euro valance.

I'm picking up a euro OBC on Wed. It's broke however so I will be transplanting the buttons from that one onto a functional 13 button I got from my Secret Santa!

                    Cheers,

                    Brian

pretty rad stuff. i have always seen those wheels and loved them. What kind are they? are they BMW or aftermarket?

can i see a pic of the blinker stalk with city light thing? I haven't seen that before.

Wheels are OEM e34 M5 wheels. Pulled them off my '91 M5. I have 18 inch AC Schnitzer type 2's for the M5 to it doesn't sit on jack stands.

The blinker stalk looks just like your factory one. The only difference is mechanical not visual. If you push up or down on your turn signal stalk, it will click into place for left or right. For the euro stalk, you can push up an additional click which turns on the city lights for that side. I was told this is used for street parking instead of meters. I am not 100% sure on the accuracy of that, but I plan to find out a definite answer before my car is finished. I will try and make a diagram to better explain the movement of the stalk.

                        Cheers,

                        Brian

See if this makes sense. Notice how for both city light indications my hand is on the stalk holding it in place. This is because it is like the high beam flash feature in a way. It does click but does not hold the stalk in the position. The BC button in your above post is for the OBC. It toggles the different modes on the OBC. Pretty cool option back in the 80's/90's but not a Euro only thing.

                              Cheers,
