are those shadows? (the dark green pointy stuff on the lower right side)
if so, then they are backwards....
the light source is coming from behind the mountains.
if it's grass, or foliage, then they would be obscured by shadows heading the opposite direction.
regardless of that, the rocks facing the viewer should be very dark. especially considering how low the sun is... (and the fact that the far face of the rocks would be lit up)
another part of becoming a well known artist is to work on some color theory, light source knowledge, and a general approach to perspective.
this isnt meant as disrespect to your painting. i've been ripped many a new asshole by my peers over the years, when getting my work critiqued.
keep at it, and post your next one if you want my opinion...Originally posted by HollandThere should be a restraining order to keep kids 100 feet from that car at all times. Plus execution on the sight to anyone who places a shopping cart within 200 feet of the thing.

Yeah the "dark green pointy stuff" is supposed to be trees at the feet of the mountains. I know my lighting is not very accurate, i am still relatively new at painting, and i have never taken any classes for it, so i am pretty much learning on my own.
In my opinion, the rocks in the foreground are a little overwhelming, the monotony needs to be broken up a little, and i do agree about the need to darken the rocks, because they technically should be in shadow.
I am working on another painting now which i will post and you can critique, and i have issues with that one also (i don't think i really like any of my paintings) but keep looking in the general for sale section for my paintings!
and i also plan to do some E30 related paintings, but i have never painted anything mechanical before, only natural forms. But we will see how it goes!
