    m90b35 details?

    Anyone know the details about the m90b35. I have a chance to pick one up. Can the m30 tranny bolt up?

      Yes the M30 tranny does bolt up to it. The M90 is a M30 block, difference in the bore being 93.4mm and 84mm stroke crank.

        Doing some basic research i saw some where that the block is closer to m88 and the head is close to an m30. Looking at photos it sure doesnt look as large as the s38. A S38 swapped e30 comes into my shop regularly and that is a large motor, I have never personal seen an m30 swap but they don't look to be so tight, and I mean the space around the block, obviously the two piece DOHC head isnt very slim

          Well the s38 is dohc so the head is certainly bigger.. As far as the m90 fitting in the e30, the mounting bosses are identical to the m30b34 and the 260/6 or 265 will bolt up. The m90 should have a completely different looking intake from a normal m30 or m20, the intake runners are seperate, kind of like a larger m42 intake

            I have an M90 and close-ratio dogleg right now, still currently sitting in the 1980 Euro 635csi donor car I bought. The M90 has an intake with individual circular runners, hence the nickname "log" intake.

            In the interest of saving forum space, what are the pieces I need for the swap with that transmission? I know I need an E35 B35 pan/pump/dipstick, B34->E30 engine mounts, but what driveshaft stuff am I looking at? Guessing I need a different break booster too?

              It's going to be a pain in the ass, much easier to use a 260/6. You're going to have to make a crossmember and have a driveshaft made. I'm not saying that there isn't a driveshaft combo that would work but I haven't seen it done yet so it'd be trial and error.

                If it's an m30 block than a big guibo super eta ds would work, would it not?

                  This is where my car lingo deficiencies lead me to self-doubt. By cross member do you mean the support for the transmission that bolts up underneath it? If so, I was under the impression that an OEM E30 M3 part could be used, since the Euro versions were available with the CR dogleg?

                  And what exactly is the proper name for my transmission? The 265?

                      -The tranny you have is a 265.

                      You are right in thinking the e30m3 crossmember will bolt right up to the e30.

                      -AFAIK the brake booster you have should be fine. I've never heard of anyone changing the booster in an m30 swap. But I could be wrong.

                      -You will need an e34 or e32 b35 pan/pump, the dipstick you have shouldn't hit the pan. Or at least it didn't on my b32, I can't imagine the dipsticks would be all that different. Mine worked fine after the b35 pan swap.

                      -As mentioned before, you will need a custom driveshaft which will cost you a lot of money.

                      -And you'll need b34 mounts. Which you will probably have to make or get from tino at e30.de

                        The CR tranny of the early 6s were 262s iirc, but also have the removable bellhousings like the 265s. The 262s were actually pretty weak, or atleast in comparison to the m90. But you should beable to get a e30m3 265 to bolt up to it.

                          Is it a 262? I was always confused about them because I could never find any info on what cars they came in. Out of curiosity, do you have any reference for this?

                            I'll have to look at the number on the tranny when it eventually gets pulled. Is there no combination of driveshaft/associated components that will work without the need for a fully custom shaft? I had been talking to euroshark about this swap and he said he believed that a surefire combination had been found.
