    Accident/Insurance Situation Advice

    So I figure this happens to us a lot; my coupe got hit in the rear qtr panel and the insurance company is going to want to total it as repairs will be $2500+ and Value will certainly be < $1800

    What do I do to produce the most win in this fucked up situation?

    let them total the car. buy the car back. part it out. $$$.

    dont take a lowball offer from them.

    the bumpers, doors, trunk, exhaust, and interior are all very easy money. $200 for front and rear bumpers. $50 for trunk. $50 for exhaust. $200 for full interior if its good and desirable. $150 for crack free dash. engine is $200 and trans is $100 easy.

    space to do it is the only draw back.

      NO, show them other E30s similar to yours from reputable sites that are selling for $6k and up and prove to them that your car is worth more than the book value, i have seen it work plenty of times. if they see that there is a demand for ur car and that it is indeed worth more, then they wont call it totalled unless you want it to be.

        I see wut you did thar. Thanks, I've had a few issues in the past so I know there's wiggle room.

          What BMWerke referred to doesn't work unless you have the correct coverage. Replacement cost coverage is not inherently integrated into most plans.

          Will your insurance go up if you claim this?

          If not, claim it, let them total it, barter for the highest payout possible, buy it back, use the spare money to fix it yourself. Fender roller can take care of the arch. Some of that will buff out. Buy a used tail light. Then either live with 2 small dents, or get them fixed when you find someone who will do it for a reasonable price.
